Hi Subtec, I am aware that I am new to this forum after stumbling across the net via google and I saw your design case: http://www.bit-tech.net/modding/2011/02/08/phobya-design-a-case-competition/10 I really liked it. It would be shame that you withdrew from competition. I'm just wondering if you are able to build the case I want? Thanks, Danny
I already talked to Danny privately before his post was out of moderation, but for anyone else who's wondering, no, I have no plans to build it.
So am I . @Subtec : I saw all your SU model on the SU collection. I'm making good use of your QDC and Koolance fittings .
Glad they're coming in handy Thanks guys. Maybe when I get motivated enough I'll do a few renders of some other concepts and post 'em up. I've got a lot more than what's here...
Subtec, I'm curious about what software do u use for rendering? Is it solidworks? I'm looking for cheapest CAD software.
I can't use it....lol . If I built what I designed on sketch up it would be possibly the worst looking rig bit-tech has ever seen. it might be a laugh to try one day though.
Sketchup has some quirks, but like Nexxo said, works great for knocking out concepts. I used to use Rhino but switched to Sketchup because of all the user-contributed models on the SCC and 3dwarehouse. I still miss some things that were simple in Rhino but a pain in Sketchup, but for the most part for how I use it it works well enough. Admittedly I haven't really explored the plugins much, which could probably fill some of those gaps. Oh, I used Vray for Sketchup for doing the renders of Dominus.
I haven't used Rhino in ages... oh how I miss NURBS curves... here's hopping they roll out proper curved geometry in SketchUp9, hah, chance'd be a fine thing!
It has quirks that you need to get used to: how it interprets your drawing and tries to resolve ambiguities. It took me a good year of practice before I started being able to draw complex shapes quickly and simply. You have learn to think in SketchUp processes.
