I am looking for suggestions as to some new games that a group of between 2 and 20 people could play. Currently, the only games that we use are Battlefield 2 and CnC:Generals. Any game needs to be playable on fairly modest computers (the worst are latitude D620s, with 1GB RAM, 2GHz Core Duos (not C2D) and a graphics card that I think relates to a geforce 7300/7400 (it’s a 110m), it doesn't have to look brilliant, only be playable.

Ideally, we would like a new FPS and a new RTS (by new I mean new to us).

I have been thinking of Supreme Commander (which I think should work) but I am not sure about an FPS.

    Any suggestions gratefully received!:)

Supreme Commander might work, but it'll be a bit crap on the Dell PC's.

Try any of the C&C's really - especially the older ones from the First Decade pack, something like RA2 will work brilliantly.

For FPS, how about CS:S/1.6? Always a classic. Then you've got WW2 shooters with MP extensions, things like CoD/MoH (pick your title really, all will work on all machines). How about Farcry? That had good MP and great visuals. Give SOF2 a try as well, the multiplayer was absolutely brilliant incendiary-grenade fun.

They were good for a bit, but we played them too much, and with the same group of people they got a bit dull (especially with the variety of eapons in BF2)

Sounds good, but I have never heard of it, I will see if i can find it, thanks:clap:

Wouldn't far cry eat those lower-end machines for breakfast? I had to tweak it on mine (much to my confusion!)

Perfect time to play it too, since the expansion is coming out soon.

I know it's getting on a bit but I always find that any of the Unreal Tournament games are great fun for fps. Really easy to pick up, so even a novice can just jump right in, and I never found them that system demanding (especially nowadays).

fast and fluid, good for a while anyhow and being crowned 'godlike' is quite a rewarding feeling

We tried that for a bit, and enjoyed it, but it takes so long to load! And yes, i liked being crowned godlike

Umm... aren't they a bit old? (I may be missing the point here)

Thanks for all the rest of the suggestions, I like the idea of CnC 3 (especialy as one of the people is a die hard fan, and keep bugging me to get it so he can play it )

okay, i reread this thread and realised the OP wanted MP action (not SP as I read it first time). Which makes what I said mean no sense at all. lolol!

C&C3 certainly has a decent singleplayer (compared to generals), but the multiplayer is currently spam spam spam for the win! The economy is just too powerful; the harvesters are too well armoured, and you get too much money from the tiberium, encouraging spam rather than harassment and sneak attacks. EA really need to sort it out, I'm sick and tired of playing multiplayer, the skill required has definitely gone down from ZH...
    /rant

Anyway, as long as you people aren't too competitive about it, I'm sure C&C3 multiplayer will be great fun. Serious Sam is also a great bant on co-op (with difficulty on max of course).

    For RTS:

World in Conflict. The online play is just absolutely addicting. It's kind of like fps multiplayer meets rts. There's no matches where you wait for people to join and then you play the game. You can join any time and get right into the thick of things. There's nothing like a good carpet bombing or nuke. Best time I've had playing an rts since Red Alert: 2 came out.

Americas Army, works on my pc, less than a gig of RAM, about 2.6 ghz processor, and a seriously ancient Graphics Card, GeForce FX5200.

    seconded

civ3 or alpha centauri (alpha centauri is better)

company of heroes is fun for a bit, but it might choke on the lower end systems.

    red alert 2

Can't believe no one has said it, ****ing StarCraft?!?
