I wasn't exactly sure where to put this post... So i tried here as it is a piece of hardware.

Im getting some money soon, and id like to buy a PDA or similar toy mostly just for playing around with, but i could also use a pda for a lot of usefull purposes. I was looking at the palm lifedrive as it comes with 4gbs of hdd space. Although im not really sure if palm is the way to go here. Bassically i cant spend much more then 400$ CAD, so the lifedrive is pretty much right at the end of my budget. I would like something that can play video's and music fairly well (so it needs a fair amount of space, that budget would include a flash card if i dident go with the lifedrive), and also can maybe play some simple games and use wifi to browse the internet. Is a palm or a pocket pc better for me? I love features, I find that most of the fun of portable electronics is learning how to use them and playing with all the features and things it can do. I like toys :)

Any suggestions on what to get here? palm?, pocket pc? which one? or something else? thx

Dell Axim's. I think the latest model is the X51v and it looks rather nice. Features wifi/bluetooth and has both SD and CF slots, so you could get a CF Microdrive.

The Palm Livedrive has proved to be a bit buggy and prone to crashing. I'd read a lot of user reviews on that one first. The Palm TX is a better alternative.

The best PocketPC bar none at the moment is the Fujitsu-Siemens Loox C550 series. If you want a good music/video player, I'd consider an iPod. No really good integrated PDA/Media Player devices exist as of yet.

Hmm, i considered getting a ipod or similar mp3/video player.. but i find that i dont listen to music or watch video that often, and considering that thats all those things do it wouldent last me too long. What I like about PDAs is that i can occasionally listen to music/videos but theres a load of other fun things i can mess around with on them too. Plus its very usefull for school. And i looked at the Dell Axim's, but one of those and a cf or sd card is out of my price range.

depending on how long your willing to wait, there is something coming in to the market that is going to revolutionize the portable electronic device industry, and in essence make everything out right now obsolete. But the palm lifedrive is a pretty good competitor, but lacks in features.
