Great mod and the case, the cooler master is a great case and the PS screen finsihes it off great and the translucent acrylic is slightly see through and seeing the jubbings is a great touch to the mod as well as the metal surrounds for the case, they make it look quite industrial....
    Nice job

Nice mod sui, were it mine I would stealth the ROM drive and throw a Matrix Orbital MX display into the 5.25 bay with the 3.5 cutout (like this)... but that's just me, Mod it Til it Bleeds!

Thanks for the comments guys, I use to have a piece that covered the drive also. But it didn't look that good, so I cut it off. Haha, that would be nice, but I don't have $80 to spend on one of those. (or whatever the orbital LCD costs)

I actually got my idea from CaseModGod and bit-tech. Thanks for the guides guys!

very nice... I also like that frosted plexi and the slight seethrough effect.
how about removing the front of the dvd-drive and stealthing it with another piece of frosted plexi? :)

Don't worry, the PS1 screens are a load more functional than any character LCD out there. Especially when combined with Samurize. You can get parallel (HD44780) character LCDs pretty cheap though, far less than the USB or even serial ones, and typically can use the same controller software.

I too think it looks great, but I'd have frosted both sides of the plexi to make it a bit more opaque.

Actually I did frost both sides of it, I only used 1000 grit sandpaper though. And didn't spend alot of time on it.

    That looks beautiful. Very tidy.

How did you stick it on? Did you glue it?

Okay I see..but I was more thinking of removing all of the grey plastic at the front of the drive and rebuilding it in frosted plexi to create a similar see through effect as above. Just a thought , not sure of how it would look.

I used some very sticky double sided tape. :thumb:

Gnu, I don't think that'll look very good, but who knows. It could turn out very nice.

If you can't get the VGA method you could always do what I did, I used RCA/svideo.

Its a lot easier just to use the TV out and connect it up to the video in on the screen. I've had MSN on mine running about 400x300ish using powerstrip and its 'not so bad'.
It depends what you want to display on it. If its text then you really need 640x480 resolution and a VGA connection unless you like squinting but for stuff like winamp graphics, video or temp displays then a TV out connection is fine and a hell of a lot easier.
