My s1156 ITX board is soon to be moved from daily use to a PC for my daughter.
It's currently running a mildly OC'd G6950, which I'm thinking about replacing with a cheap X3430 Xeon, which can be had for £10 or so. I hope to OC it to about 3GHz to get the speed up as well as the extra cores benefit.
Is this a good choice, or should I be heading for an i5 750/760 instead?

X3450 is like the I7 which was like the I7 X58 chips. As you say Bungle, far superior to anything else on that socket.

Thanks fellas, I hadn't spotted that the X34 range included i7 equivalents higher up the range.
Now I've looked a little closer at 1155 and 1150 Xeons I see they have the same too, with i5 and i7 variants buried in the ranges.

No hurry, so I'll add the X3450 to the list. May be some CPU envy from me though, if my 13 year old has the only 4C/8T rig in the house. She may have to put up with a cheap quad :p:

Touché! Nicely put... SIms 3 should run smoothly though!
I hope the venerable H55 board carries on running OK; I bought it used a while back, but it's a Gigabyte which is better than some I could mention in ITX.
