Hey guys. Almost finished my A-levels (woohoo!!) and I've got a long summer coming up. I want to get a job, but have no connections and have no idea where to start. So I thought I would ask you guys. What I'm essentially looking for is some sort of informal work over the summer. How do I go about applying for such? Most people I know have got jobs by knowing people in high places. I don't have that luxury. I would really like to do a night job (night attendant at petrol station / night shift at supermaket / night porter / ...) I don't want to do any waiter jobs, I've already done that and it's boring. I'm technically minded but not great at chatting to strangers. In summart: Suggestions for jobs and how to apply please
Go round places and ask. For night shift stuff try the employment places in the high street, they pay min wage, but its fairly easy work.
supermarkets my close at night, but 90% of them have night shifts. speaking from experiance, it really screws with your body clock...
If you want something nice an easy, get the night shift at a petrol station, when it's 1am you get the random drunks wanting 10 mars bars and then the night is yours to play games on your lappy
^ Sounds great. (except I don't have a lappy ) How do I get a job like that? Do I Just go to the petrol station and say "can I work here?"
The ones wanting 10 mars bars arn't drunk m8 Anyway, if all your after is a summer job then its fairly easy. have a look in your local paper, have a look on the websites of large chain stores, go into supermarkets and ask for application forms and generaly hand out your CV everywhere you go. You'll have job offers flying in
Funny you should say that, when I did this job a few years ago, the stoners always went for the pringles, never the chocolate
Any petrol station attendant seen around here using a lappy on his/her midnight shift would end up getting it stolen pretty damned quickly :/
From what I hear some supermarkets pay 1.5 or double pay if you shelf stack on nights. Probably boring but good pay for a basic job.
I was behind sheets of bulletproof glass with no way in, and one of those turnstyle jobby's for buying things, that wasn't about to happen
