thing is this will be the first time i work with Intel or ATI ive always gone AMD in the past so any insight / input / wisdom you could contribute would be vary cool.

Q6600... you can O/C it to 4GHz/core on a decent liquid cooled rig

A quad core is also future proof as programs are still being written to utilize all 4 cores.

i would agree so far im leaning towards the quad. any one have any wisdom to share about working with Intel CPU's or about using ATI i have never used them before.

and im hoping to order some parts by next thursday/friday. But I wont be back from my business trip to be able to work on it till around the 28th so im going to start ordering parts so that when I do get home everything should be there.

    That is wrong mate.

4ghz q6600s are rare with out massive volts. Quads just dont like high fsb.

thats semi true, if its a G0 stepping like mine then 4GHz on water isn't unlikely, its just easier to take a E8xxx series and get 4GHz thats all.

You dont really need a Quad over 3.2GHz anyway as they still munch though anything! Well FEA stress analysis and rendering kills it a little but gamers dont do that kinda work tbh as its nothing to do with gaming!

well guys ive hit some walls.

    First Wall

i went to buy my parts last week and my card was declined.:wallbash: it had expired and i was out of town so i couldn't activate my new one. i got home from my trip and went to activate it and was told i have to call my bank to do it but i have to call during business hours. so ill fix that on Monday and buy my parts.

    Second Wall

i picked up a Swifech Radiator and a Danger Den Fillport

(not the actual motherboard im going to use)

and on to the wall my case is to small/radiator is to big by centimeters for the setup i had in mind.
i originally wanted to put the radiator in the front of the case but it looks like thats not going to work out.

i have the option to mount the radiator in the side of the case

but to do that i would need to perform surgery cut half of the HDD rack out and a little more than half of the drive bays (witch is going to need some work for the video card to fit) and to then fabricate a new side panel out of plexi. wouldn't be that bad and i could mount my pump on the floor of my case.

or i could return my radiator try and find a smaller one that would fit and keep my side panel (cut a design in it) and mount my pump in the part of the drive bay i wouldn't have to cut out.

im in a toss up as to what to do.

oh and i got a free APC (forgive the rats nest)

For how you wanted to mount the rad I would have got 2 120mm instead, would have fit for sure. Probably could have got thicker radiators like the Black Ice Xtreme for better cooling with quieter fans.

well my decision was made to day i figured out how im going to do it.

i decided to cut out one of the 2 HDD racks and to cut out the left side of the 5.3 bays (the case has the option to use both sides)
im going to make a new side panel out of acrylic that is on its way.

the side my disk drive will be on. (acrylic will be used for the window)

the radiator side mocked up with a scrap piece of acrylic

hear you can see ware i cut the HDD rack and the drive bays.

    Note
the motherboard is just for mock up purposes.

The idea is nice, but you have a lot of filing to do! The edges of the aluminium and the plexi looks terrible. If you sort that out, the case will look hell of a lot better ;)

no i know that. i haven't had time to file it down yet, and as for the acrylic its just a scrap that i was using to see if that is ware i wanted to put the rad. i just received my shipping conformation on my acrylic, im thinking i might yet paint the HDD rack and the drive bays.
