Lol you poor poor English. Pro tip. Run a hot (not scalding) bath and pour in about a cup of white vinegar. Have your bath. It will sting for about 5 seconds. Grin and bear it. Then after your bath get some after sun lotion with aloe from pretty much any shop, or any kind of moisturiser with aloe.

This helps sunburn? Or do you just want Krikkit to smell like fish and chips that have been smothered in aloe vera? lol

It helps, the hot water encourages pores to open, the acetic acid kills any bacteria (I guess?) in the hot water or on your back and the moisturiser can get right into your open pores.

I had a similar crispy experience last month - hot bath (no vinegar, must try that next time) and used E45, it's great stuff as it's ever so slightly oily, so rub it in to the point that your skin won't take any more, then put a thin film of the stuff on without rubbing in, that'll soak in over the course of the day until you can get home and re-dose in the evening. Unlike a watery moisturiser which will either soak into your skin or t-shirt; or dry and go crumbly E45 stays liquid and supple all day long. I had no problems for four or five days, then I missed an evening dose and woke up peeling. Yeuch.

Problem is, honey flow is May to August, with a dip in July (end of Spring flowers, Summer flowers not yet open). We have already lost a lot of the critical flow period. During the rainy days bees stay in and eat what they have already collected. I should have had 40 jars worth of honey by now --I barely have 10. My only hope is that flowering has been delayed by bad weather too and that there will be no July dip this year, with some flow into September.

Moreover the queen got superceded in the main hive but with this bad weather it is not at all certain that the new virgin queen has been able to make her mating flights yet. If she does not do so in the next week she'll lose her fertility. Same for the new colony in the second hive. There is no more brood in either hive so they are 5 weeks from extinction. We need eggs in the next 2 weeks or we're in trouble.

This country sucks for bee keeping. :sigh:

I'm still impressed that you keep bees. That always seemed to me like an incredibly interesting and peaceful hobby. Do you keep the hives in your backyard or are they located at some type of allotment?

Unfortunately our homeowners association forbids anything remotely like beekeeping. Also, my wife preemptively put her foot down at the idea. :(

When I fell asleep in the sun at MK Bowl before the Foo's gig last summer, I got scorched like a piece of bacon over an open flame! When I got home that weekend, I put Palmers Cocoa Butter on it, and did so twice a day for the whole week after that. It's not aftersun and it doesn't cool the same as something like Aloe Gel (I've used Banana Boat stuff in the past and it's good) but it completely stops your skin from peeling if you put it on often enough, and you can keep it in the fridge to get the added cooling effect. My skin barely peeled after the Foo's gig and I was really badly burned on the arms and face. For coolness though, the gel is probably the best way to go and will prevent peeling to a certain extent as well :thumb:

Is someone after some yoghurt? I can probably find some in my fridge somewhere...

There's a Hollywood film in the making if ever I heard one, or at least an Aardman mini-feature, or maybe just a 5 minute drama short on Radio 4 - either way, it's a helluva story bro :)

Another vote for finding an Aloe Plant! Personally I do that, then go for copious amounts of aftersun during the day / at work, where it's not really on to carry a potted plant round for company...

From a Floridian where burning is apart of our lifestyle....

    1. Find some aloe lotion with lidocaine in it. It will help numb out the pain and provide relief.
    2. Take LONG warm (not hot) showers. This will cause the skin to expand and reduce some of the tightness you feel.
    3. Wear cotton clothing over the affected area. Other fabrics will irritate the burn with their coarse fibers whereas the cotton will not.
    4. Ride it out. The burn will peel in about a week. Of course peel off the dead skin as it starts to shed, but don't try to force spots to peel via rubbing, let it peel naturally.

I have two hives in my back garden --one has just been made from a swarm from the other, which I've had since last year. I've been visiting the apiary and learning since two years. I've learned everything except good swarm control. :p

It is very interesting, peaceful and lovely usually, but right now with two hives on the brink of extinction because the virgin queens can't get out to mate in this crap weather, it is pretty nerve-wrecking! The bad weather this Spring/Summer is immensely frustrating. I have given up on honey for this year.

This is what the little wizened Greek woman did to me when I got badly burnt a few years ago. Worked a treat!
