Hello. My dad has been wearing these sunglasses for many years. They are echo grass clipper sunglasses/safety glasses. We bought them at home depot (in the U.S.) but they no longer sell them. Now we are down to one pair and would like to buy more. Has anyone seen these? Pictures: https://picasaweb.google.com/106026574731104465743/Sunglasses?authkey=Gv1sRgCJSe4KjQxff1BA
Have you tried looking at a new pair of Oakleys? They are the best sunglasses around. Super durable and they can be found in all shapes and colours.
I would like to point out that while Oakley glasses are well manufactured (and exceptionally well marketed) bits of kit, they're most certainly not rated safety glasses, which I'm thinking is what the father is actually after. As an example: I've a set of Specialized's top end Arc-X glasses which utilize bullet-proof material for the lenses, but by no stretch of the imagination would I ever consider using a $220 pair of glasses while I've got the angle grinder out. Same goes for my customized $240+ Oakley Half-Jackets. I've a pair of $15 CSA certified, shatter proof protective glasses that are specifically designed for use in the shop. Having said all that: I do remember those glasses quite well, but cannot say that I've seen them available in any hardware store I've been to in the past few years. They were not too bad of a pair! Now everything is going towards the full wrap-around look, which I honestly absolutely hate.
Good points, but do bare in mind that oakleys supply their sunglasses to American troops fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, and they are on the list of recommend eyewear. So while they're not especially designed as safety glasses they'll most certainly do the job.
I can go with that to be fair... I do wear a pair when it's death-glare worthy when airsofting... thats with nothing over the front and a pair of mine have taken a bb to the lens and not shattered mate. heck, check Oakley's site, they might do something like that?

Although I have never used my Oakleys as safety glasses, I just wanted to +1 them. After breaking countless cheap to mid-price sunglasses in my teens (normally after a holiday), one of the first things I saved up for and bought when I had my own income was a pair of Oakleys. Ended up deciding on the Juliet model. Best sunnies I have ever bought! They are so solid and well made, with brilliant optics. When I wear them there's no reflections of my own eyes and very little light comes in through the edges....if that makes sense!
No where did I say that top-shelf optics weren't up to the job of protecting your eyes from impacts. Rather I depend upon such assurances and will happily pay exorbitant amounts of money for such protection whilst on a bike, and more to the point I directly stated that both the over the top pairs that I own far surpass industry standards in impact tests, however none of the boutique brands test their entire optic package (lenses, frame, fit, adjustability) for safety standards within an industrial or shop type environment. Whilst the coverage of one's eyes is good with a competent pair of sunglasses, it's no where near to the coverage offered by a specifically designed-for protective pair of eye wear. When one is working it isn't just direct frontal impacts that one worries about. Apply for a job within industry and show up for your first day with a pair of Oakley's on, just to see how quickly they show you the door. It'll be fun, I promise...
I've got a pair of these, they're really comfortable and plus you can change the lenses depending on what you're doing (haven't done it myself, but I could if I wanted).
How do you mean? I was simply extolling the benefits of real safety glasses over boutique fashion accessories, nothing more. If you've inferred any negative tonality within my post, then I assure you it was absolutely unintentional on my part.
