Any predictions on the Superbowl? Yea, I know, American Football sucks, rugby is a man's sport, we invented "football" first, blah, blah, blah... Did I miss anything? Let's keep this for the people who like to watch American Football and not a bashing thread, okay? Code: Wildcards Divisional Championship Superbowl 1/8 & 1/9 1/15 & 1/16 1/23 2/6 NY Jets------- |--San Diego----- San Diego----- |--Pittsburgh--- Pittsburgh---- | (AFC) | New England--- |--Pittsburgh-- Denver-------- |--Indianapolis- | |--Indianapolis-- | Indianapolis-- | | |--Pittsburgh | St Louis------ | |--St Louis------ | Seattle------- |--Philladelphia- | Philladelphia- |--Atlanta---- (NFC) | Atlanta------- | Minnesota----- |--Atlanta------- |--Green Bay----- Green Bay-----
I have no idea who will win although i think i may be watching it this year as it tends to be screened quite late (i think on five) and we all know students don't sleep at reasonable hours.
Pats and Colts should be a interesting game...Gotta love the local boy (manning) snagging the TD record.... Supperbowl will be Philly and the Indy..
I agree with most everything Dad's got there...except I think (hope) the Superbowl will be Pittsburgh and Philly. But I still have to say Pitt's gonna win it. We'll never hear the end of it from Dad. Overall though...it's gonna suck...cause it's gonna here (Jacksonville) and this stupid city is gonna go ape crap and traffic is gonna suck and there will be a bunch of "foreign" people here. By foreign I mean non-Jax people.
I agree with Deviate, I'm thinking it will be Pittsburgh @ Philadelphia. I really hope Pittsburgh wins the Superbowl this year. I'm from a Steelers family.
NE will win over Indianapolis... NE all the way (again)... my dads the NE team doc so i go to the super bowl if the pats go... then again, if we lose to pittsburgh, i get to go to hawaii because he has to cover the pro bowl... going to the super bowl is better, though. either way, i miss 3+ days of school
That's pretty cool. My dad's foot doctor is a doctor for the Redskins...so I get to point at the TV and say I know that guy.
me or other guy? im definitely right. i believe we KILLED indy in playoffs last year and beat them this year... denver hasnt been great either this season... either way, the Pats stand a good chance of making it to the semi's... And lets not forget the 2001 AFC semifinals... or 2001 superbowl... or divisional... the pats are really good at winning (21 games in a row...), even as underdogs(2001 postseason)
Just a few changes from what Dad put down Code: Wildcards Divisional Championship Superbowl 1/8 & 1/9 1/15 & 1/16 1/23 2/6 NY Jets------- |--San Diego----- San Diego----- |--Pittsburgh--- Pittsburgh---- | (AFC) | New England--- |--New England-- Denver-------- |--New England-- | |--Indianapolis-- | Indianapolis-- | | |--New England | St Louis------ | |--Seattle------ | Seattle------- |--Philadelphia-- | Philladelphia- |-Philadelphia- (NFC) | Atlanta------- | Minnesota----- |--Atlanta------- |--Green Bay----- Green Bay----- Changes: *Seattle over St. Louis. Why? Well, I'm going to that game, so they're going to win. *Philadelphia over Atlanta. With Owens gone, Philly is going to really buck up and finally get to the Super Bowl, although they'll need to work on their D. *New England over Pittsburgh. Gut feeling. If NE does win, it'll probably be close. *New England over Philadelphia. Philly will put up a respectable show, but NE will take it. This time Vinnateri won't have a chance to win the game in the final seconds.
I really don't think that the Pats will get past the Colts. I just heard on NFL Radio at about 4:00 that Ty Law is on injured reserve. So with that and their secondary being pretty beat up, I think that Manning will be able to take advantage of this rack up the points. As far as the Colts going to Heinz Field, there's no way that the Steeler defense will let Manning go long, the d-line will pressure him and force mistakes while shutting down the Colts run game. This is the year my friends, I've been waiting and waiting and waiting since Superbowl XIV waaaaaaaay back in 1980 :\
Round 1 AFC N.Y. Jets -V.S.- San Diego -> N.Y. Jets Denver -V.S.- Indianapolis -> Indianapolis Round 1 NFC St. Louis -V.S.- Seatle -> St. Louis Minnesota -VS.- Green Bay -> Green Bay Round 2 AFC N.Y. Jets -V.S.- Pittsburgh -> N.Y. Jets New England -V.S.- Indianapolis -> New England Round 2 NFC St. Louis -V.S.- Philadelphia -> Philadelphia Atlanta -V.S.- Green Bay -> Green Bay AFC Championship N.Y Jets -V.S.- New England -> New England NFC Championship Green Bay -V.S.- Philadelphia -> Philadelphia Super Bowl New England -V.S.- Philadelphia -> New England Won't be sad if philly wins though, I think the Pats have it in them again. Green bay will make if far then get upset I believe. I think the Jets my pull a few punches that no one was expecting. Over all however, I excpect this to be a damn playoff season this year. Lots of good games ahead.
yoda, pretty damn badly. Giants were 6-10, and surprisingly 2nd in the in the NFC East, despite being tied with the Cowboys and the Redskins, due to a better conference record. Bears were 5-11, dead last in the NFC North. Dad, I forgot that I had New England over Indy (which would be kind of necessary for them to win it all again). That's a toughie, since the Pats really shutdown the Colts last year, from what I remember (note that what I remember usually amounts to bupkus). True, their secondary is pretty beat up, but that hasn't really bit them in the ass all season. Granted, I didn't see the whole Monday night game they lost to Miami (just the last few moments), but I do know that Pittsburgh basically ran the ball against them a lot to win. The Pats aren't going to make the same mistake should the two meet in the playoffs, and I don't think Roethlisberger (whose name I think I managed to spell correclty without looking anywhere) has it in him to lead the Steelers without the benefit of Bettis and whoever the other RB is (I should know this one too). Sure, he's won all of the games he's been in, but he seems to be cooling off as of late (can't comment on the last game against the Bills though, I was too busy wondering how the hell Jets lost to St. Louis and wondering if the good Seahawks or bad Seahawks would show up). Anyway, back to Indy/NE. That one has quite a bit of ambiguity to it. One thing that you can't ignore is Manning's inability to perform in the playoffs. Granted, this is his best season by far, but Manning has put together other great seasons, but the team quickly exits the playoffs. Plus, their defense is far from stellar. I say if Manning has an off day, NE wins hands-down. If regular-season Manning shows up, then it'll be a down-to-the-wire game. Man, this turned into a pretty long post.
No. Eagles suck now, they're going down. Falcons or Rams vs Pitts or Pats. next year however, Cowboys
The Rams? That's classic. There's no way in hell the Rams are going to make it to the NFC Champ. game, let alone the Super Bowl. If the Hawks don't down them, then Philly certainly will. It won't be a repeat of the Monday night game whre Philly rested most of its starters.
