Isn't the whole US vs Soviet Union just a tad dated? I mean the Soviet Union doesn't even exist today let alone in 10 years time....
They're just lulling us into security, to BAM let down the Facade and...strike back.
(Wait a second, I didn't make that up...I saw that somewhere...errrr getting old)
because the previous games' full scale global war just wasnt exciting enough?
If Hollywood or video games have taught us anything lately, it's that the real threat is never from Islamic terrorists and rogue states: it's always from a Russian ultra-nationalist or a neo-Nazi plotting behind the scenes.
Never heard of this franchise - is this an RTS?
Aren't you thinking about The Empire maybe?
16 player maps sounds like fun though...
no, it's a Grand Strategy Title, like most games published (and developed) by Paradox Interactive.
Seems fairly cool, even if THE GAME has a storyline that's fairly generic these days
It is not outdated. Simply by the fact how much stuff from that period is still classified. And because SR family is a unique set of games. It is great fun, but you need to be patient, in particular if you never played SR. No other game coming even close to SR 2010 or 2020 in terms of complexity. Biggest problem with SR2020 is CPU power. It is Very heavy CPU dependent game. In particular with last Update 7 when AI became much more active. i7 recommended.
Yes it is GST type of game (with tad of RTS), but it is far from Global Total Warfare. Of course you can do that, but there is much more than permanent carnage. Played many games where I did not fired a single shot. It was equally fun as shelling everything around [Chinese 400mm MLRS Cheesecake!].
Anyway, looking forward to new expansion. Game needs it, just like it need even more complexity. Bring it on. Har, Har, Har.
Well bugger...based on the title I was hoping for a Diana Ross simulator
That would be from The Simpsons episode " Simpson Tide "
wiki entry( imdb's blocked at work )
And I see nothing wrong with having it soviets vs. america again. I'm still playing RA2 after all
The game is actually Supreme Ruler Cold War set in the 1950s. Paradox have corrected their press release;
Our intention is to allow the player to play though the historical cold war, not a future fictional conflict. How historically accurate it will be is not been finalized yet.
2020 or 1950, seems like an easy mistake to make right??
Personally I liked the fictional future conflict idea better, woe is me.
Nothing to stop you picking up a copy of SR2020 to do this now
