Hi guys, i recently upgraded my Gpu to a gtx 980 with stock cooler but plan to sli it in 2-way or even 3-way. Next step on my list will be a monitor upgrade from my old crappy acer 22" 1080p paired with an even older NEC 15" to either 3 Rog swift or one of these tasty LG 34UM95 with a 27" 1440p on each side. I use the PC mainly for gaming (Crysis2&3, Call of Duty MW3, Ghosts & Advanced Warfare, and some F2p like LoL & WoT) but also for work (Excel, Word, vba & C# Spotify ). 1. What do you guys recommend, the Rog swift or the LG? 2. Is it even possible to game on the 21:9 with the 16:9 on each side? How about Nvidia Surround? I heard one can use only the same sized displays for surround. 3. Which 27" Display would u recommend to pair with the LG? The Rog swift seems a little bit overkill next to the 60Hz LG but i didn't find any other Displays with smaller bezels. Cheers
Mixed resolution triple screen gaming is possible* via Eyefinity but IIRC still not possible with Surround (this may have changed with the 9xx launch). *ALthough I don't know if your configuration would work. Bare in mind you are going to want some serious GPU horsepower and VRAM behind these screens to max out your games (at a decent framerate). You are looking at over 12MP to push (or double my Surround setup / 50% more than a 4K screen). 980SLI / 290X CF or ideally Titan (Black) SLI (for the 6GB of memory) would be the minimum I would be looking at to drive this sort of resolution.
The Curved one looks awesome but that would be another 350€ on top for a feature i don't really like. Just double and triple checked the driver release notes and found nothing new about Surround gaming apart from the G-Sync support. Sadly most Information on the Nvidia website is still for the 6xx series I guess 21:9 with 16:9 on each side won't be possible with todays Nvidia drivers so now I still could go for 3* 16:9 or 3* 21:9 if supported. I'll ask the guys over @ Nvidia if 3* 3440*1440 in surround is possible and give you guys a feedback asap
I get it when compared to a single screen, but surely with a 3x screen setup you would be wrapping them around anyway, so seems curved would be ideal?
