Hey all, Two questions. What type switch is commonly used for PC power switches? I know its a NO momentary. However whatever site I check (Mouser, Jameco, Newark) I can not find the same style switch. Do they make these switches in NC? I'm looking for a switch that will fit in the socket previously occupied by the stock powerswitch, but I need it to be NC. I'm try to set it up so that when a panel is opened an series of LED's will turn off. I.E. panel is closed the switch is depressed LEDS are off, panel open, switch is released, LED's are on. I could use alternate style switches if someone has a better idea. I thought about a magnetic reed switch but couldn't find a NC one. Any ideas would be great. Edit: Oh yeah first post after trolling around for a long time....
The ordinary push-button switches are made in NO (push-to-make), NC (push-to-break) and CO (change-over) but the choice is much more limited in the last two. But I think most PC cases have a more bare-bones switch, with the button part of the case bezel rather than part of the switch. Microswitches are mainly CO types, come with a range of actuating arms, and should be easy to mount behind the door. Reed switches also come in CO like this one.
Yeah I've found that micro push to break are a difficult find indeed. CO switches can be NC or NO correct?
