We had a large storm the other day, since then ports 1-4 have stopped working on my Dell 5324 I've tried different ports and the others seem fine just 1-4 seem to be affected. I've opened it up and measured voltage across c347, c348 and c349. It matches voltages of other ports. I'm at a bit of a loss, I can only assume that it is something elsewhere that has keeled over. Next plan is to reset factory defaults but I can't imagine it'll help. Any other ideas from some people more clever than me.
I had a quick look, but there was nothing leaping out at me. That said I'm not all that familiar with where to look, the ports are all enabled though, apparently. Tomorrow, when I reassemble it I'll try a factory reset and see what happens. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
Factory reset was going to be my next suggestion. Not sure if your switch has the option to backup it's configuration? Otherwise just check what the default IP will be after the reset and temporally remove any device that has the same IP so you dont get a conflict. If the issue persists and you have tried alternate devices and cables then I think it's safe to assume the ports are borked
Agreed. 4 borked ports. After prodding around like an amateur I managed to achieve getting port 4 to permanently light green. I've tried different cables and devices so like you I can only assume that the ports are up the spout. In other news that server is doing great, had to install Ubuntu server twice as I screwed up initially with the samba shares. Next stop figuring out a cctv server for Ubuntu and configuring it. Linux is great, it's like Windows, but with less "windows" and more walls of text. I had a hell of a time firing up initially as there was an issue getting to POST. after a lot of fiddling, hunting beep codes on Google etc I went back to basics and reseated Ram. Problem fixed. The old dell is going to be decommissioned in a few days and turned into an automated backup free nas box. Or sold on again... Thanks again for the hp. It is massively better than the Dell, Mrs Bear will be happy with the ssd when I get around to. Edit: was going to install windows sbs 2003, but lost the media, and key... Nevermind. I'm growing to love Ubuntu Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
I have an unused SBS 2003 Key and discs that I am happy to let go of. Drop me a PM if you are intrested. Sorry about it being a bugger at first. Maybe it worked loose when I moved it into storage. Anyway glad it was something simple
