Electronics Switch question 10A at 125VAC

    Can I use a "spst contacts Rated 10A at 125VAC or 6A at 250VAC" rocker switch I got from radio shack on a cold cathode light for the on and off I'm a little new want to make sure I’m not going to melt the switch that’s all some tell me yes or no please and if no what switch to get thanks for your HELP all who reply.

    No problem at all, but make sure you put it on the DC side of the inverter, not the lamp side.

    ouch "DC side of the inverter" what's that can you point me toward a site that maybe gives you a step buy step on wiring up a switch to a fan. you've been Great man thanks for all your help these past few days

    Let's see.

    There will be four wires on your inverter. Two will connect to the PSU, and two to the lamp. I was just making sure that you put the switch in the side that connects to the PSU (not the lamp). It would probably be good for me to also say the switch you want would be a SPST (single pole single throw) and you would do best to place it interrupting the +5V wire (or +12V if that's what your inverter uses) rather than the ground wire.

    yeah. i once had an inverter that was running while the neon wasnt. noticed the smell of burning plastic (the electrical tape that i covered it in) and turned it off thank god. and this is while i was on my way to work and no one was home.
