Anyone got and if so any advice would be appreciated. Got mine today and taking my time setting it up. If any of you have any useful tips please let me know. I have the DS212+ 1 BAY
You can also use it to provide TV to your PCs (and maybe tablets) if you use a USB tuner: http://dvblogic.com/en/software/synology/
Have the exact same model as this (upgraded from a DS-106), and have to say it's been superb. Is fast enough for my needs, and streams TV/Movies to my WDTV faultlessly. Highly recommended! The only thing I did was change the fan, as the one that came with it seemed to be too noisy to my ears. Good choice!
I've got the Ds213j, budget one but with floating point processor. Much speedier than the 410j I've had. It's main purpose is to serve photo with Synology's photo station, so FPU works wonders. It lives in my bedroom and it is soooo quiet, the unit can be left on all the time and idles at 3w, similar to most TV's off usage. I thought video station can already handle DVB recording?
Thanks guys. So far added all my music and drivers. Linked up all my tablets and phones as well Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 2
I did not know this. Is there still room to use the second USB port with a USB TV tuner? I'd want it as a print server too.
I've had a Synology DS212j since January. Brilliant bits of kit! I use the Cloudstation app so I have a personal cloud that works the same as Dropbox but private. There's even an iphone app for it. The 2-stage login for the web UI is quite cool.
