    Hi all

I have an ageing core 2 system that has started to boot on its own following shutdown.
After powering off and within a couple of seconds of the cpu fan stopping spinning it will boot up again.

I have turned off wake on lan, unticked all the "allow this device to wake the computer" check boxes in device manager.
Unplugged everything non essential including the front panel connectors.

    It still does it.

So, unless one of you can tell me otherwise I am guessing it's a hardware issue.
The next question is what to replace if it is, is it psu or motherboard that is likely to be at fault and without having a spare psu can you think of how to test?

    Thanks for any help.

Does it actually boot into Windows or just turns on for a few seconds?

    Fully boots up into Windows.

I also uninstalled the update that installed the day it started but this also had no effect.

There are no other problems that I have seen apart from it turning back on.
There is no variation in the time before starting either.
Power goes off, couple of seconds later fans start spinning again and up it comes.

If you're doing a full shutdown, and it's basically restarting, then it's probably something motherboard related. So go through the BIOS and look at power settings, and make sure your mobo drivers are up to date.

Updated drivers, updated bios and checked that all bios settings for wake are disabled.
    No scheduled tasks

I'm stumped unless it is a hardware fault.
