My friend has an E-Machine. well her computer does not keep correct time. so i went over to her house last night and change the c-mos battery and the computer was doing a good job keeping time. well today she emails me and tells me that the time is wrong again. i did bring the old battery home and tested it and the battery is good. does anyone have any ideas what could be going on? :wallbash:

she has XP and is all up to date

Try changing the time to somewhere in the near future and see what happens

It's not an unusual problem. There's a script that will change the XP automatic time synchronization from the default weekly to daily (or even hourly), if the clock persists in drifting.

There are also plenty of 3rd-party utilities that will do this, TClock Light adds some nice clock customisations.

Opposite problem to me, my clock speeds up every so often. I just reset the time manually and live with it (I don't consider it that important on my Windows box). Try the programs that have been posted. Save them to a USB stick on your own computer and then take that round. Should be okay then.
