My friend has an E-Machine. well her computer does not keep correct time. so i went over to her house last night and change the c-mos battery and the computer was doing a good job keeping time. well today she emails me and tells me that the time is wrong again. i did bring the old battery home and tested it and the battery is good. does anyone have any ideas what could be going on? she has XP and is all up to date
and the computer was on all night if that helps. but if she turns it off it doesnt want to turn on. i think there is something wrong with the power switch
It's not an unusual problem. There's a script that will change the XP automatic time synchronization from the default weekly to daily (or even hourly), if the clock persists in drifting. There are also plenty of 3rd-party utilities that will do this, TClock Light adds some nice clock customisations.
cool. i might have to do this. the only bad thing is that she has dialup. but i will still have to check it out
Opposite problem to me, my clock speeds up every so often. I just reset the time manually and live with it (I don't consider it that important on my Windows box). Try the programs that have been posted. Save them to a USB stick on your own computer and then take that round. Should be okay then. Andy
