Anyone knoww what it is in my windows task manager and why it is using up ~90 of the CPU bit??
err idle... as in how much cpu isnt being used....
It's not supposed to do that. It's generally bad when it happens. Hit system idle process then hit end process.
System idle process should sit at ~100% load when the pc is idle. Its fine.
*Cue Kameleon's sig*
The System Idle Process is the measure of how much percentage of your CPU is idle. Good call
ohk i was just wonderin coz my comp seems to be runnin really slow lately
Scan for spyware, check msconfig for crap loading at boot, defrag the hdd.
2. Run a good av (I recommend AVG (Free))
3. Run good anti spy/adware programs (I recommend Spybot S&D, Webroot spysweeper and adaware < those three together wipe out pretty much anything bad you can think of)
4. Check the process manager for processes you don't want/need running (******** like Steam, QTTask(quicktime, not even needed) and whatnot generally tend to rape your system's full performance figure)
5. Go to start> Run, then type in MSconfig and hit enter... this'll bring you to a system/boot config menu, go to the "Startup" tab, and disable unnecessary things in there such as the quicktime task (qttask..), and itunes helper and such.
Thanks, you just gave me a really good laugh
And Zepher is correct, it's supposed to do that
Hey cheers I'll do all that. Have you got a link for the AVG anti virus? I've got spybot I'll do that now
HeeHee... I wonder how many n00bs killed it off... Made a good start to my day
Also, is there a website that explains all the processes so I can see if they are good or bad? LIke there are some with just random names and I dunno what they are.
Thanks for your help
In fact there is, wonderful thing tbh. Been growing a lot in the last few years. Ready for it?
And let the cheers from the crowd echo throughout the forums!
just put in the name of the exe into google, 99% of the time the first few results are sites that have information on it, i.e. if it is harmful etc
man, i can't believe people were so helpful in this thread.... or was it cos the pwnage was too easy
Id have to say "too easy not to"
Separate names with a comma.
