T-ENG Well I have purchased a Lian Li PC-A05nb today and I am going to be basing the looks off of the T-ENG look from the Lost Planet Series. The mods that I will probably be doing are: - The front bezel has the Lian Li vent holes on the sides, to mimic the T-eng look, i would be placing a piece of orange translucent lexan and a white ccfl behind it. This will lower the air flow of the 120mm fan that's behind the bezel, but I will be redoing the air flow though out the entire case. - Like I said I will be redoing to air flow by adding 2 x 140mm top exhaust fans at the top, so the air comes in the rear and front and goes out the top. This is only possible because of the short height of the case. - Since I am only running 1 hard drive, I'm removing the hard drive case for an overall clean look. - The power supply is going to be modded so that no cable will be seen from the side window. All cables will leave the left side of the power supply chassis, and get tucked along the floor. - Power supply sleeveing. - Chassis will be powder coated matte black, with orange accents - I will be water cooling this down the road, unless I get help with a sponsor, with a 2 x 140mm rad and orange tubing. With the hard drive cage out, there will be plenty of room for a pump and reservoir. - Custom case feet. - Xigmatek Orange with White LED fans will be the choice for this build. Here is what T-ENG looks like in Lost Planet 2, i think i can mimic this well. Its the orange areas. Also a big Thank You goes to MNPCTech for sponsoring parts of this build, thanks Bill! Definitely gonna be watching this one...I always love to see people pulling off mod themes, eventually I'll catch on.
Getting the case within the next few hours, but got the stuff from frozencpu.com first. Orange sleeving, black heatshrink, and a NZXT 2 meter orange sleeved LED kit. These are the fans I am going to be using in this case. 2x140mm Xigmateks and 4x120mm Xigmateks The NZXT led kit is very nice. Comes with a PCI slot device, with an on and off button. It also has a switch to change between 3 brightnesses. They are small changes in brightness, but will look nice in the case. First sleeving i have ever done... took a while.. Once I got a hang of the sleeving procedure, things sped up, and I got all the fans done. Once I get the case I will post some more pics. Ikem
It's a great case, very moddable too. I've only gone as far as sticking an extra fan in the top, but I've seen great things done with the A05. Looks like it'll be a decent project!
so i stripped the case today to do the usual mods to the chassis and mobo tray. put holes in the mobo for some cable management i like the aluminum, but it some places it feels to flimsy. I have only worked with steel chassis but thats what you get when you work with a different material. Lian Li's build quality is higher than i thought. Which is great. Im glad i picked Lian Li Also sleeved the usb front header connections. Then ran out of sleeving...
well my hands have over spray and metal flake on them.. but thats a good thing. the main chassis of this case was supposed to be very simple and mod friendly. It turned out well. The main part of the modding with be with the exterior panels and hardware. This camera SUCKS at taking pictures... Once I get this all said and done, my friend has a Rebel and he said he could let me borrow it. the painted rivets worked well. It didnt even clog up the rivet gun. you cannot tell from all these pictures, but there is a silver flake on all the black pieces. having the rivets orange makes them really pop all coming togeather. installed 2 fans, and the nzxt sleeved orange led kit. 2 meters was the perfect length, only had 4 inches to much. like i said the frame of the case was supposed to be easy and simple, which it was. Now, I have some ideas to mod the hardware and exterior panels, which will take alot longer to plan and execute. Thanks for looking! Ikem oh also a big thank you goes to JJ_sky5000 for sending my a Gigabyte 890xA-UD3 motherboard!
starting to mock up the hardware, and start positioning things. so i started modding the psu for the clean look that i want. I have shortened the cables significantly. fitting everything behind the psu. this psu will only work with this case now. haha now once i sleeve the cables that are running along the front 120mm fan, the cable will be done. also i have to get some thinner wire for the led power. it look so clean! any comments?
Looking good so far, I like the front-mounted PSU - I actually did the same with my first case project. (won't be found in Bit-Tech, tho)
love the black and orange but...total mess with the blue'ish GB board, you should have gone with something black
well it was a sponsored motherboard so im not going to complain. i may be getting some modders mesh and use it to cover the mobo in some kind of orange. ive seen it done with sheet aluminum also. and tomorrow im getting it photographed by a lot better camera. since this camera is horrible quality. here is the concept of the front bezel. it doesnt restrict airflow at the moment. and the Grills and feet have arrived from MNPCTech.com! Thanks Bill. 140mm Computer Billet Fan Grills Grooved Machined Aluminum Case Feet the 140mm fans are just sitting up there for reference right now.
Here is the pic of the end of the week. Once I order the rusting paint, I will continue with modding.
Love orange mods! Keep it up! Also, that blue mobo kinda ruins it. Unless you want to incorporate some blue into it? Either way, im sure it will look great!
