Ugh, I just installed my new Tagan 480watt psu and now my sound has started buzzing :wallbash:

It’s quite odd really; grounding the psu using the ground lead makes the buzzing worse or at least louder. I also tried a different soundcard (M-Audio Revo 7.1) and that buzzes as well! The buzzing can also stop for a time then restart especially if my soundcard makes any kind of sound.

Disabling my SoundStorm in the bios doesn’t stop the buzzing either.

Could my new PSU be giving off that much interference? Or could it be something simple?

God PC’s suck (well mine at least!) I knew I should have bought a Mac :miffed:

I stuck one of these in my main machine yesterday, it seems perfect to me, where do you have the ground lead hooked up? It's supposed to be connected through one of the motherboard screws/mounts.

I find it hard to believe that it's interferrence considering there is far more shielding on the leads than i've seen on any other PSU, the unshielded molex wires are also twisted together to help reduce the effects.

Tried taking the whole PSU out and putting the old one in? or even just take out and reseat (re plugging in everything), not a lot else you can do really :blah:

Yea it was connected to one of the motherboard screw holes; its now disconnected and will remain that way until I upgrade my computer.

It also seems to have stopped buzzing for the time being, maybe its settled down now or something :eyebrow: Anyway I guess I’ll find out if it's fixed it's self sooner or later ;)

It is my psu thats causing the buzzing (that was obvious anyway) I just took it out of my case and pluged it in at the max cable length and the buzzing stopped :eeek:

Thats wierd man. I got a Tagan 480W as well recently. Have an NForce3 board with onboard sound. And have hissing sound now, whereas I didnt before. Hmmm, warrants investigation I reckon.

Only solution is to use the digital output of the soundstorm, as this isn't as prone to bad earthing as the analog.

Hmmmm ive just bought a Tagan as well (the tg480-u01 to be exact :p ) and i've just put some music on to test if i get the same effect and mine is clear as day, i'm not using onboard sound mind i'm currently using a SonicFury 5:1 card. Although the sound has been choppy on all Steam games, but that could be unrelated. Also i haven't got it grounded as i still avent finished my case :hehe: .
