ok i have gained a pelt from ripping apart a mini fridge, i undersatand about putting it into a molex and tapping the red wire onto the yellow wire from a molex , but will this TEC be able to handle it? i wont be using it for cooling a cpu i just want to see if it will work , here are some pics

ps there is no thermal compound on the tec it has got a heat sink tho , i was thinking of using a thermal pad?

what do you guys reckon, obv i'll have to use a different psu which i have spare 400w, ill link up the 2 correct pins to trick the PSU

    what you reckon?

    Nope.
Those won't handle a CPU or anything, they aren't rated high enough. :)

You can connect it up as you mentioned. Should be 12v, from a quick google. Found a site listing similar model numbers to that, and following that chart it *might* be a 172w tec, running between 12 and 24v.
Run it on a dedi PSU, and make sure you cool the hot side.

Actually, looking at the size of that sink, would suggest ~60w max maybe even less....

Dedi PSU - Dedicated PSU :)
    Arctic silver is fine.

And, 37w... is that even enough for a NB? :p

Some psus dont like being on with no load and they immediately shut back off, but it should be ok. That is green wire to black wire, right?

Yea, doesnt matter what it is, as long as it loads 12 and 5v. A high power fan might do the job too, or possibly an old hard drive
