Linux Tecra 8000 resolution issues (Debian)

    To expand on the above, I've edited xorg.conf to include "1024x768" on every line that may apply.
    It's still stubbornly stuck at 640x480.

    What have I missed?

    What distro are you using, and what video drivers? “User friendly” distros like Noobuntu Ubuntu tend to ignore xorg.conf. If you are using NVIDIA drivers try running nvidia-xconfig and setting the resolution in there.

    alsa = sound... You need to get the correct drivers for your card...
