OMG how good is this? ours only started working today, but im already amazed, for those that don't know, it basically can stream programs from telewest that have been on the week before and you can watch/pause rewind etc whatever you want, for example I just watched last sundays Topgear tonight, and could rewind to bits I liked. Only the most popular shows are available mainly BBC at the moment, but its only started to be filled/updated, soon there will be thousands, theres already probably 50 things, also has a library of full series of shows that will be updated, at the moment theres a few series, with aufweidersen pet series 3&4 on there, so you can have a binge week of a comedy series etc and watch whatever you want! This whips skyplus in so many ways, can't wait for when its fully updated Hows everyone else finding it ? - Matt
The other day we discovered that if you missed, say the first 20 minutes of a program, you can set the box to somehow record the missed 20 minutes. Quite a cool feature. But I guess the telewest thing beats it, it might come to sky eventually.
Don't get that excited, I've had it a few months and they still only have Auf Wiedershen Pet on there It's a good 'filler' for Sky+ but it's still so limited unless you only want to watch films or Most Haunted. However, once we have the TVDrive so we can do Sky+ stuff, it'll be a nice addon.
Had this for a while now, and find that it's pretty impressive, especially for free. I like being able to catch TG again I wish they recorded more channels, though. Maybe sometime soon, they'll improve that aspect of it...
Yeah its great when theres nothing on to put an episode of Waking The Dead on. But I just wish it was more comprehensive. I've had to watch the repeat of Rome twice now, and it would have been mint to see it on Teleport instead. Anyone know if the number of channels and programmes will increase?
Sky are introducing "Sky by broadband" in a few weeks also, watch your favorite programmes on your PC.
Sky+ does a continual recording, so as long as the box is on the same channel if you get home late and switch on, press rewind and catch the programme from the begining. Obviously it only works if your box is on the same channel as the programme you missed.
Ours was activated about 2 weeks before coming to Uni. For someone who isn't much of a TV fan I loved it.
I assume so because with digital they are included in the broadcast signal. Very useful considering previously you needed a special video recorder to record subtitles. Which costed something like £400!
so its what people have been doing illegally with downloaded eps for years but legal guess its a start
It is really stupid tbh. It's illegal to download recorded programs to your computer, yet it is perfectly legal to "download" onto your sky box, which effectivly is a computer as it has a hard drive in it. I don't quite see where downloading starts becoming illegal. It can't be copying from someone else, because the sky plus box has a copy function.
iirc its something like its not illegal to have a copy of a tv ep that has been broadcasted to your tv (like a vhs recording or a tivo recording or something) but giving it to someone else is (so technically giving a vhs tape of something to a friend that missed it is illegal) thats what i remember being told from somewhere or other tho
Ooooh... hello. I was wondering when they'd do one of those. It certainly looks a lot sleeker than my v1 PACE box
