Do any of you (UK) guys know where I can get short-term insurance?

I will be moving to rented accommodation soon, and my current insurance will run out in a couple of days, so I need to do this ASAP.

I've had a quick google around, and it there doesn't appear to be any specifically short-term home insurance companies out there, or even common ones which offer it. About the best suggestion I can find is to get home insurance and then cancel when you've finished/pay for a full year.

If you do cancel they'll charge you, how much depends on who it is, but it's often nearly as much as the rest of the cover anyway. If you move out in <1 year, could you not sell the rest of the cover off to the landlord for the next tenants?

you could try calling Endsleigh, they deal with a lot of student contents insurance and tenants insurance, but you will probably have to call them and tell them how long you want the cover for as I think their website will just quote for 12 months. They tend to be fairly reasonable cost wise, and when I've claimed on their travel insurance they were very quick to pay out.

I've been told by Endsleigh that they don't do it.
Another company did however suggest the cancel and get a refund route.

I own this house, but moving into rented accom.
Unfortunately, I don't think the woman buying this house will want to but the insurance from me, but it's a good idea so I'll investigate.
