Recently upgraded my CPU, HSF, Mobo and RAM. Was wondering if i'm getting the sort of temperatures i should expect at stock speed, i've been out of the hardware 'game' for quite a while so i'd have no idea. Kit: - Intel Core i7-4770K - Asus Z87-PRO Z87 - Corsair Hydro Series H80 - Silverstone FT01 Idle: 100% Load (20 mins of Prime95 Small FFTs);
Temps look high for stock speed but I guess you have this on auto volts. Try and set the vcore to its correct stock levels and go from there, 1.1v to 1.175 is where your v core should be. Stock default on auto is closer to 1.2 to 1.275v that's a temp saving there if that's the case. Rest depends how you setup for the h80i. You could not really overclock much on your current temps as the max I'd ever want for day to day would be 80c
To put how bad your temps are into perspective, here's my 4670K at 1.2v on a Thermalright AXP-140, which is a HTPC cooler:
Thanks chaps, well last 1-2 days i've been having a tinker. I installed AI Suite III for the Asus board, i then updated BIOS and used the software to OC it. I used the most modest OC tuning, which push it to 4.2ghz and i noticed temperatures were around what i had at Stock. Which was bizarre. I decided to reset the BIOS settings back to optimized defaults and see what what my temps were, i set the H80 to performance mode. Seems to now be better, with temps in line with hard HardOCP got on a 3770K at stock. http://www.hardocp.com/article/2013/02/12/corsair_hydro_series_h80i_h100i_cpu_cooler_review/4 Idle (15 mins) It had a spike of load for some reason, so max temps are not reflective. It pretty much stayed around mid to low 20s for the entire run. 100% Load (15 mins of Prime95 Small FFTs); Generally stayed around 49-50 for the entire run.
