Just wondering if anyone could offer their temps as a comparison to mine.

Under Load using Prime 95 my 2500k is running at 67/68C ... with no overclock.

I'm using an Arctic Cooling Freezer 13 Pro.

These seem normal? I'm seeking authorisation to overclock :)

Anyone out there with a Define R3 who can offer a comparison?

    Using an ASUS P8P67 Pro.

Ignore what i said about no overclock... Im at 4.6GHZ with them temps I was messing about with an overclock and didn't realise i'd saved the profile!

Still it'd be nice to know what others are getting...

I hit about 55-60c running prime at 4.5ghz overclock so for air cooled i would guess that is about right

Cheers, I was going to buy the 620 the other day when it was on offer at Scan but the reviews suggested the fan on it screams under load, what are your experiences of it?

I use a spare 120mm sharkoon fan i have on it not the one that comes with it, never bothered with the standard fan.....the fans can be changed, standard screws/holes, just pick any nice quiet 120mm fan and add that to the order and your sorted...also the 620 keeps the cpu so cool the fans have never had to boot up to top RPM yet because i have never been near TJ max..

    Cheers for the info.

Ive dropped the over clock down and fiddled with the voltage and now Im at 4.4GHZ but with much nicer temps of 60C :D

Seeing as though I only finished the build yesterday.... Im Happy!! :D:D

Currently stress testing 2500K@3.9GHz at stock volts. Using a Noctua NH-D14 in a R3. OCCTing for 2 hours yields 55*C so far but this is in quiet mode with all the fans under 900RPM so i would say you're in the ball park. Will let you know further temps when I hit 4.6GHz at a later date.

had the stock cooler on and the 2 fans that came with it in default positions (1 intake and 1 rear exhaust) got about 34 idle and 65 - 70 under load.

Now I have filled out all 7 fan spaces with fractal fans (still need a CPU cooler) and I get 30 idle and 60 load

    No overclock

How much of a difference in noise is there with the extra fans? I'm considering buying a fractal R3 to go with my next build :D.

Just as an update to this...

I dropped the overclock down to 4.2 as I'm currently only using the 2 Fractal Fans that come with the case + the arctic cooling freezer 13 pro and I'm very concious about temps (will be filling all fan slots eventually, any suggestions for what fans to use welcome :))

So I ran Prime 95 on small ftt for 4 1/2 hours last night and the temps maxed out at 68C under full load.

Using Cinebench under full load temps maxed at 58C.

Are these reasonable temps do you reckon for a 24/7 overclock? (considering I'll be filling the fan slots at some point) I've got it at 1.224V and throttling back to 0.9V when Idle.

All the temps were checked using realtemp and weirdly core 3 was always 2-3C more than the others, anything to worry about?

Sorry for so many questions!

I've been building a Fractal R3 over the past few weeks and testing throughout. It's really not necessary to deck out the case with fans all over although it would be easier to give advice if I knew your exact rig with regards to hardware. Are you using crossfire or sli for example, is your graphics card a rear exhaust model?

As a general rule replace the fans that come with the case, as useful as a fart in a colander and about as effective at cooling! They have a low RPM which ain't no good for shifting decent quantities of air. I've found the best fan for the rear 120mm slot is a Scythe Gentle Typhoon 1850RPM model, this fan can really work hard for you and exhaust lots of hot air. Also as an intake if you can accommodate a fan at the bottom of the case a Be Quiet! Silentwings USC is an excellent choice and at full speed you will not hear a thing. Just insure your case is on a hard surface (not carpet) so the bottom fan can actually intake cool air. Those two fans should serve you well, if you want more then an Akasa Apache up front is a great option.

Spec is an ASUS P8P67 Pro, I5 2500K, Arctic Cooling Freezer 13 Pro, 4GB XMS3 Classic, ASUS 6950 DirectCU II (Don't think this is rear exhaust from memory) 1TB Spinpoint F3, Pioneer DVD R-W and a Corsair AX 750.

Yea I'll definitely be replacing the fans, I'll probably just add maybe 3 like you say for now, cheers for the advice might just get them ones aswell :)

Are you overclocking? What are your temps like, similar to mine, or do mine seem a bit high?

My PC is in a fairly cool room of the house so ambient is low, keeping that in mind overclocked to 4.5GHz my load temperatures hover around the 65 degree mark. Also it's normal for the cores to register differing temperatures. It's simply a matter of where each core is located on the CPU, some areas will be hotter running than others!

What voltage you got pumping through the CPU SouperMatt?

I think you'll see an improvement in temperatures with a Scythe fitted to the rear of the case, here's the one you'll want to try...

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/120mm-scythe-gentle-typhoon-1850-rpm-cooling-fan

There are reports of a whining bad batch of fans but I ordered from SCAN in early April this same fan and it runs perfect.

Check out my h70 thread, i dropped 10C going from 1.184v to 1.112 volts, who would have thought that 0.07v could make such a difference?

    7% of a single volt!

It's worth going all the way down in voltage to find the sweet spot.

Yea my room is fairly warm as its the loft, and what with the Manchester heatwave a bit warmer still.

Yea I'm aiming for a 4.5GHz overclock eventually hopefully below 70C on load.

I've got the CPU running at 1.224V at 4.2GHz and at 0.894V throttling back to 1.6Ghz.

Wow thats quite and improvement :jawdrop:

As I say I'm at 1.224V for the 4.2 OC are SB happy running under load at less than 1.2V?

Oh and btw, those scythes seem to move quite alot of air, is there any reason you suggest just 1 of them for the rear and not the front or bottom?

I was having 62-65C at 4.5GHz, but i got pretty conservative fan controller settings compared to what most board set ;).

Hmmm I think I'll have to wait until I install the fans it seems.

Everyone else seems to be getting temps of low/mid 60's for 4.5GHz while I'm getting high 60s at 4.2 :(
