Hey folks I would like to invite you out to the Texas Gaming Festival http://www.TXGF.com It is being held in my home town: Austin, TX The date is February 13th-15th The even is being held and the incredible Renaissance Hotel We will have 1000 BYOC spots for you to bring your computers and play. Entry is only $20 for BYOC and Tourney ($20 total, not each) This event is sponsored by ATI and MSI, in association with AMDZone.Com and GameStop ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Case Modding I will be on hand with a dedicated modding showcase, and I will be hosting a modding Q/A and workshop. There will also be a two level case modding contest (Depending on modders that show up) Prize: -Super-mods (Total custom stuff made from scratch) Prize: -Pre-mods (Mods that look good, but with little work) A two level contest was choosen as many modders spend lots of money on their PC's, yet get little recognition if their PC's are not extreme. Prizes will be hardware. Modified computers will have a dedicated area at the front of the BYOC that you can setup at if you wish. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tourneys There will be both Computer and Console tourneys Also since the 14th is Valentines day, we are hosting a mixed couples Quake3 Arena tourney (2vs2). The prize: A nice dinner, and hotel suite for the night. Other tourneys that are lined up: Counterstrike 5 vs 5 Battlefield 1942 Halo PC Halo XBox Mario Kart: Double Dash Pending tourneys: (Depending on support of those who come) Quake 3 Arena Return to Castle Woldenstein Enemy Territory America's Army <-- 64-bit version is a possibility Star Craft Warcraft III Command and Counquer Generals Mechwarrior 4 and more --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Austin, TX is a rocking town with tons of clubs and live music. So come for the gaming, stay for the music. There will be a reduced price at the Renaissance hotel ($TBT) Visit http://www.TXGF.com and sign up in the forums for more info. /Edit: Modding contest has been changed to Super-mods and Pre-mods
I wish I were down there I can't afford to get away from my job for the weekend, else I would find a way to go. get lots of pics for me?
Figure if I dissmembered my arms, legs, and cramed myself into a box and mailed myself and my rig down there, they would let me in the doors?
I got details on the age limits for TXGF: -No one under 18 without parental consent -No one under 16 without parental consent and a guardian. -There will not be a curfew.
I got some more info regarding modders coming to TXGF. Since some modded PC's are not fast enough for gaming PC modders will be allowed to bring two computers as long as one is modified to an extent. (Simpler pre-mods do not count) The moddified PC must also be in one of the contests. But you will still only have space for one PC, so your second PC will have to fit under the table. (Or in the allowed space on the table) No servers though, the second PC must be used for gaming.
I really wish I lived in tx I would love to enter Idle Hands into a contest, see if I could get "most unorthadox idea" award or something. How big are the alloted table's anyway?
Take a normal folding table and divide it in two or three. Usualy you can get 2.5 PC's per table, with someone having their PC on one, and their monitor on the other. Sometimes you have to go around a police gamers to take up too much room.
You can sure as hell count me in on the party I wouldn't miss it for the world. Also I just want a reason to burn a few of the shirts givin to me by the Nvidia freaks at the 2003 Winter CPL C3. I am only down with ATI and the only reason I am wearing the Nvidia shirts is because they where free and I need something to cover my back (meaning I need shirts no matter what they have on them) I just hope I get a sh*t load of freebies from ATI, Intel, and MSI while I am there. Please forgive me if last sentence makes me seem like a free-loafer or leech of society. Well I guess you beat me to it Zap I didn't see your post on Pheaton till just now. PJ
How can you count half a computer on each table along with two other unless you are refering to a monitor or just a tower, I need some explanation buddy. LOL PJ
Would you happen to know how far the place where the convention is going to be held is from an Amtrak train station? I may be riding the train from my city to yours. That is if my mom doesn't take me like she says she might do. One other thing is the convention going to be 24hrs none stop from begining until ending ? ? ?
Hate to do this to ya Zap but I'm gonna have to miss out on this one. The PC I thought I'd have built buy now is on hold until my college loan arrives (Ohh baby its worth the wait!!, ).
That sucks. I forget how far you are (Dallas right?) I may have a computer free for you to use in my booth. I won't know until closer to the event though.
Mataghetto actually, about 250 miles SSE of Austin, I'd like to go, but convincing my parents to let me go to a party hosted by a guy I met on the Internet is going to.....wellll.......
OK, its a definite no-go now....seriously serious family emergency....(I'd rather not go into detail ATM)
Registration is now online: http://www.txgf.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=NL_Lan_Parties&file=index TXGF is only 17 days away!
