http://www.huffingtonpost.com/rober...be-moving-into-canada-after-all_b_829473.html They told Fox News to eff off because Canadian law essentially prohibits lying on air. But then again, you've got that joker Harper trying to ruin a good thing. We just had a pretty interesting discussion in my apartment over the merits and demerits of the Canadian system and the American system. Wonder what the denizens of 'Serious' think?
Fox news lol, im from the UK and even i know that things a joke. Channel of pure Propaganda! Nice one Canada.... eh
Don't worry about Harper. He has an American style politics, but that's the party vie On this topic, while I sometimes hate the CRTC (Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission), due to their incompetents especially on the domain of the internet. They do sometimes do a great job, that surprise me, and benefits Canadians.
I don't have cable and haven't seen Fox News in about 2 years but I find the story (blog) a bit chilling. There was the whole Ann Coulter thing about a year ago too. There's plenty of pundits and networks I don't like which is why I don't watch TV anymore (other than streaming Netflix) but that completely different from them being there. It comes across as a systematic intolerance to a variety of ideas to me.
Part-Canadian, so biased, but always preferred the Canadian way of doing things. They just don't seem to get as worked up about things as Americans do, and seem a lot less scared of everything..
It is said that not being scared allows people to take better and more logical decision. Or it could be how Canada is a crazy multi-cultural that is some how weaved perfectly, to produce with harmonious community scattered everywhere in a country. Or perhaps, we learned a few things from native Americans which got carried over generations after generations. Or a mix of everything. But you are in the U.K! Canada's brother! I like our political system at an overview levels, which is very British. And if some nut job takes control, we have the United Kingdom Royal Family representative, our governor general, here to block things. Well to be realistic, it's just a figure position, but the role was almost seriously needed, when Quebec wanted to separate. Where the governor general would see with the U.K Royal Family in allowing or not official the separation, as also stated in Wikipedia, and on a documentary I saw, said by on one of the political supporter of the separation. Interesting to what could have happen, and how such role would have been executed.
I think it's a shame when people can't tell the difference between "News" and "Opinion" shows. If people thought for themselves it wouldn't be such a big deal to have Opinion based show's on a news channel... At that poin it's not really news anymore is it? And it's more freedom of speech. Don't like their opinion? Turn the freakin' channel. I'll admit that I like Fox News. However, I don't watch any of their Opinion based shows, I don't like them. (I don't exclusively watch Fox News either...)
Ah, so that's where all of the British sense went all those years ago. Can we have some back on a time share basis please.
Me too! I used to get my parody news fix from The Onion, but once I discovered Fox News I never looked back.
Canada - Ahh, America's Hat. Come on even Fox productions take the p*ss out of Fox! Futurama has endless comments about it!
" last week they would reject efforts by Canada's right wing Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, to repeal a law that forbids lying on broadcast news." Yup even in the UK here FOX "news" name proceeds it. Only in America would they get away with broadcasting lies and calling it news. Oh wait rupert murdoch...sky...hell. Good on you Canada.
Someone once said something like "It's sad when you get your news from comedians and laughs from news channels."
