Just had it - went to see Manic Street Preachers at leeds uni refectory (they're doing a small venue 'cya in 2 years' tour). ****ing fantastic!! Got tossed and thrown and pushed in all kinds of directions, had a fantastic time discovering that when a good view of Nicky Wire is involved I can push chubby 20/30something men out the way (I'm a skinny little 17 yr old girl!) and we stayed at the front the whole time. They played songs spanning their entire career and a ton off my fave album 'The Holy Bible' . Best Gig Evar. What was yours?
my best gig ever, would easily be 2manydjs at chibuku's 5th birthday bash, the place was absolutly packed, soo soo hot, but just soo cool.... took me days to recover
Iron Monkey - Nottingham Rock City - Saturday 11th September 1999. Best. Gig. Ever. *n PS: I was 'taken' to see the Manics in Newcastle on wednesday... ... ...The Delays were quite good.
im sure kna would like this one as it involves claw finger its was claw finger as the warmup band followed by rammstein. in brixton too. every rammstein gig i have been to has been amazing. so many explosions, setting fire to things/people, flame thrower gas masks, lots of lasers and many many more things. Even with all this they still manage to make it more about the music. Which is class.
Guns n Roses/Faith No More/Soundgarden- Gateshead 1992. Man…did not realise how long ago that was...Scary
The delays had a good opening song...the rest sounded just like the first with too many repeated lines. The last song was good, however, we're not sure if it actually was good or we were just glad they'd finished. PS: Also the guy on the synthy things was 'hawt'.
There's a gig I would have liked to have seen. GnR/The Cult/Soul Asylum and (unfortunately) Blind Melon were pretty good, whole gig really revolved around The Cult tho even though it was GnRs tour .
That seems unanimous. Actually Pitchshifter/The Workhorse Movement/Sona Fariq in 2000 was bretty bitching. NME Upstarts tour - Amen, Alfie, Starsailor, JJ72. My mate and I persuaded some pokemosh to start a pit during alfie and I sent a few of them crowd surfing (picked them up, threw them forwards, watched them fall) during Starsailor. Combined with embarrasing the hell out of the pouty moody bassist from JJ72 and covering the whiny singer in several pints of fluid, it was a good night. Sunna/Miocene/Crackout purely because Miocene showed everyone up and persuaded most of the audience to leave before Sunna. Pitchshifter/Apartment26/a band I can't remember :/ at the Ministry Of Sound for 2000AD's birthday bash - good music, lots of drinks, VIP passes and screaming 'OOK!' repeatedly at Terry Pratchett... Charger/Minus/Matter at Trillians, Newcastle (2001 or 2002). Loudest. Gig. Ever. Only time I've seen an entire bar go beserk. *n
Would probably be Tool in 1993: Tool Paw Headswim Peach Although Lawnmower Death supporting Death at the Astoria the same year was fantastic in a more surreal way
Dont say that, i could have gone and seen them Infact, reading who you people have seen i now hate most of you
Motorhead - any gig, just because it's Motorhead. The Mad Capsule Markets in London somewhere was about the best gig I've seen in terms of atmosphere and energy. Nearly passed out from the jumping and the heat and sweat and the beer.
The Dillinger Escape Plan / Cult Of Luna / Beecher Stupidly good lineup of three favourite bands of mine. Utterly fantastic. Seeing Isis and Jesu on Wednesday so I'm expecting a lot from it.
