I shouldn't have upgraded my firmware. FML. Now it fails heating past 230/40ish deg. -_- Fine if I PID tune all the way up to 260, but if I try to just put it to over 230, heater failed error. And can't find an official firmware for it to revert to. Whyyy do I mess with stuff.
-God help me... I don't have time to test or print stuff I've drawn up, but plenty of time to draw during *ahem* -alone time.
No imaaaagee =[ Alas, I am frustrated asf - anyone know what is up? Link to a video of my printer doing a print. I just can't get these first layers now. Since I tried that other firmware (managed to revert), no print has finished. All failed in some way or another. I've gone back to PLA to try and find some success, but even that is now failing on every print. This is a first layer of a file, and it is scraping on parts - i've tried levelling the bed (manual) - so many times and during the first layer of print to try and get some sort of consistency. But seems to just skip parts or scrape bits back up. Eventually this will fail and it will be pushing a part of the print around the bed trying to print and smacking the other bits off like it has been the last few times. 0 Adhesion. Using hairspray, and big brims. Crazy. Got a link to the video on GDrive and the files i'm using if anyone's bored and wants to see it. Or something i'm doing really wrong in that part of the set up. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Hk9i1dzNLtCbaknm5ZmMVDccp1VLG75s?usp=drive_link
Have you tried adjusting the Z offset? It allows you to back the nozzle off the bed a little for first layer tuning. Also are you levelling the bed when the bed and nozzle are cold? If you do that, there's more chance of expansion and bed/print scraping. Get the bed up to 50 degrees and the nozzle up to a working temp before levelling.
Yeah, I tried levelling with cold and hot. I got PLA down pretty perfect, did a few prints that came off good before the firmware. I'd like to get some levelling thing like BL Touch but it needs custom firmware, and that has put me off now from trying anything. CBA messing it up again. I'll have a look at Z Offset.
What? I linked straight out of the albums like I've done a thousand times. Is it retracting the nozzle before changing positions/parts? -Not even sure you can change that in printing.
Managed a full print that took 13 hours(ish) and finished late last night. Same print as above. Lot of stringing. And odd 'missed' bits. Elegoo PLA+ at 220 start then down to 210. 0.2 layer height I did have it going slow, not that my printer goes that fast anyway. But, first layer/infill 30mm/s, walls, infill etc 40mm/s with acceleration at 400mm/s. Going to do a retraction test model like I did the other day with the PETG, did a few 'calibration' things with some models from this place.. Not that I rate most, it seems to do those perfectly straight off the bat. Then try an actual model/print and it goes to ****. Still... fun.
Retraction calib test so far... starting with retraction distance 3 (bottom), 3.5, 4, 5, 6, 7. At 40mm/s speed, 40mm/s prime, 0 Zhop. (Finished one on right) I've only gone back to PLA because PETG was being an arse. I want to print a little ITX PC 'case' and NAS case, which would be better in PETG than PLA I guess. Of materials I have anyway. So annoying that can't get PETG to behave.
You can get HT-PLA. It's more expensive but it might be worth a look for higher temperature applications
Z Hop is a retraction setting to prevent scraping or dragging. Could be worth looking into it a little further in regards to your earlier issues.
Finally got around to printing the "Jesusfreak" riser for my CC1 at the weekend, using a fresh roll of PLA. Full build plate, around 15hrs to print. Even the supports came off the build plate in 1 go. The diagonal bits are print-in-place sliding vents so I don't have to take the lid off anymore. Final part is to glue some 24V LED strip inside (see purchases thread), which can be powered from an unused header on the printer's motherboard. (File photo - Mine is in black)
@Bloody_Pete - Not imagr, Bit's media album. It shows up for me, but doesn't show if I'm logged off. https://forums.bit-tech.net/index.php?media/tarantula-itx-3.66026/full I might have broke sumthin'.
Printed the simplest thing, but it's super-handy: Little holder for the USB dongle that goes with my Bluetooth headset for calls. It's got a charging stand that it sits on, but nowhere for the dongle to live - so a five-minute print and some superglue solves that!
