I've seen people use gentle heat (one of those cheap handheld hot air guns with the orange tip) to help with support removal. And remove them before you cure.
Had my first TPU jam, twice in a row. Looks like the days of effortlessly feeding TPU through the canvas are over. Boo! I'll have to print a bypass pipe and slum it from now on.
Ordered my first reel of TPU… and ABS… No idea what I want to print with TPU. But there we are. Want ABS for all the pc/server rack bits as I think PLA won’t be good enough. And I hate PETG.. Printing a cover mod so I can do ABS. Albeit without active heating or filtration. Maybe I’ll die from it because i can’t wait for the official lid to arrive in Nov.
TPU is great for seals, gaskets, case feet etc.. but I still fugging hate it. As for ABS, I look forward to your colourful rants about parts warping and peeling themselves off the build plate. . If anything needs a heater, it's ABS or PA. ASA to lesser degree, but it's still much easier with one. You'll probably soften your stance on PETG now you have a better printer.
@pete* -The fumes creeping out of an enclosed case are enough to give you the nasty headache and burning eyes. I'd recommend a 24" drum fan, but I know you are broke. -Hell, I can't stand the thought of having to buy one to replace my stolen one.
No different to before for PETG and HT-PLA. I'm going to get a panda breath I think for when the proper lid comes I did a temp tower with PLA and PETG on the U1. PLA perfect. PETG, a bit ****. I think my issue is currently I can't dry them well enough after theyve come out of the dryer.. STILL waiting on the Sovol dryer I bought. And currently have to run these from the printer sides. And i'm not taking them off and putting them back on everytime I finish a print or anything. I'll see how it goes... - I have window... this will be fun haha
PLA generally doesn't care - you can hang it on there for weeks. More than that, I'd stick the reels in a dry box at the very least. Ramp up your part cooling fan and try the PETG temp tower again.
Anyone else looking at the Sunlu i10 dehumidifying filament cabinet? I can see a case for one cabinet, holding ten reels of my most used hygroscopic filaments.
Saw it when getting some filament yesterday. not sure about price for it though. For my uses at-least. If it were on offer at £100 maybe But already struggling with space for things. Looks a good idea suprised nothing else is about like it? Or is there? im sure I saw a ‘modded’ fridge with load of filament in.
Instead of that cabinet, I got half-a-dozen cereal boxes. They came with 1kg of silica gel beads. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0F8B8C9Q6
I have half a dozen PolyDryers, which are fantastic, but I am increasingly less enamored with my S4. It does it's job perfectly, but it's not great for storing the dried reels, which is what I find I need more than anything. And that cabinet will hold six more reels than the S4.
Anyone running Cosmos on the CC1? I thinking about giving it a go and I wondered if you had anything to add?
I am finally returning to the resin printer… So. I bought one of those “3D printer enclosure” tents that look like something you’d use to start your own cannabis empire with. It’s big… Like… super big… But. One 3D print later, and I have a 70mm-to-100mm duct plate. I already had some ducting and an extractor fan from earlier in the year, and yesterday I took delivery of enough ducting to make it all the way to the window. I’ve just finished embracing the jank by stringing 100mm ducting across the back of my desk, and I’ve got the lid off the resin printer inside the enclosure. There’s no resin in the vat, but I can still smell the stuff if I stick my head in the tent. I’m about to go splat some Terrans (aka, play StarCraft II) for an hour or so; if I can’t smell anything outside the tent in that time, the next test tomorrow will be to actually put some resin in the vat.
One thing I discovered with my exploratino of AC hose over the summer, above 4m or so 100mm hose needs a lot of input pressure to get airflow at the end, I think its the walls create a lot of turbulance and friction so it just slows to a stop. 150mm was massively better. I never tried a inline fan to boost pressure but in theory it'd work.
Aye, the amount of ducting I've currently got hooked up is way too much, I can already see I need to cut it down. I'm already using an in-line extractor fan, I never even bothered trying something like a PC case fan. This isn't going to be the "final" site for this printer anyway. I actually picked it up for my brother, but he lives with my mother who has COPD - not even gonna contemplate taking this lot to their house until I find a reliable way to manage fumes.
Just remember if you run resin and its not fully venting, it'll hold in the hose and then probably creep back into the room, just keep it in mind
It’s easy to check though: check if air is blowing out of the end of the hose. Less air than a fart: need shorter pipe or moar beefy fan At least a gentle-to-moderate waft: bad stank will go where you want it to
