In all the hype etc with the 5870, it seems like the 5850 has been forgotten :(

It's quite hard to find decent benchmarks. Is it basically an overclocked 5850 at £200?

:thumb: The 5850 is due to be officially unveiled next week AFAIK. It is effectively the same as 5870 but with 2 of its SIMD arrays and TUs disabled and thankfully a shorter PCB. That means 1440 SPs and lower clock speeds of 725mhz core and 1ghz GDDR5 (4gbps). For reference 5870 has 1600 SPs, 825/850mhz core and 1.2ghz GDDR5 (4.8gbps). So it should have roughly 80% of the horsepower for which £200 vs £300 is quite a saving.

Interresting, if it works out more or less like the GTX 260 vs GTX 280 then I might go for 5850 and have £100 to spare actually afford to buy some games when I get my new system lol
