I'm lucky that I was too lazy to remove the component cable from my 2405. but I can see it being a pita for most people.

all righ, i picked up my elite today and here are my opservations.

Mine is 3/3/07 manufacture date
in the dashboard or on live it is silent, cant hear fans at all. In movies they do ramp up and so does the drive, it is quiter than my 2005 mfd 360 with dvds though 3-4 dba quiter. When you pop in a game though it is still loud as a jet.

temp wise at idle it was at 107F and running a game (viva pinata) it climbed to 126F at the exaust fans, temp taken with ir therm.
HDMI cable is 2.5m and blackish grey
HDMI 1.2 worked as advertised and my tv read a 1080p signial, the audio break out works just fine, and leads me to belive that you could use the hdmi and the componet cable to display the signal on two devices at the same time. (i will try this later) Them manual shows a universal remote but one is not included ( i would have liked a black one)

And lastly the power cable is only a two pronged cable not the 3 pronged one that was supplied with my other (dead) 360, that struck me as very odd.

Is that empty of all user data? Looks like they've increased the amount of cache reserved for games if so.

Probably because it doesn't need to be, I imagine the 360 and the PSU brick is double insulated.

LVMike, go check out the video section or your hdd. The elites come loaded with tons of stuff.

And I should have the first post updated shortly guys. Just been a little busy in my offline time (which has been quite a bit here lately...odd.)

 

when all videos and demos are removed i got 109 gigs

Im trying to figure out if my elite has the benQ drive or the hitachi with out opening the case, any ideas?

Mine has the BenQ!

 

I can add in that the Elite is going for $AU1000 over here in Australia, at least that is the pre-order price.

Alright, finally got the first post updated. I'll work on getting the game recommendations put in there sometime shortly as I've spent the past hour or so adding in everything concerning the hardware that you guys have given me. I had to port everything over to word and then redo all of the format codes (next time, I'll remember to copy over from the "edit post" section and not just the post itself.)

 

Just a few extra things to add, the Elite also comes with an HDMI cable, but I don't think the HDMI port is actually 1.2 compliant.

 

It's 1.2 compliant, but not 1.3.

 

Ah yeah, so many version of HDMI XD

 

Just discovered that if you want to get download content on original xbox games like Halo 2, when you go into the downloads screen and you're using a wireless controller, it won't work, you have to either used a wired one or a play and charge kit lead. Pretty stupid design there.

The VGA lead is also not 50Hz compatible, and the original xbox dashboard is in 50Hz. When you go to get download content or update your games, it will revert go to a section of the dashboard to do it, so you won't be able to update xbox games or download stuff for them if you have them connected via VGA. Again, pretty stupid oversight there.

 

I've downloaded all the Halo2 content using the wireless pad. That was before the spring update though...

Yeah, that's annoying, it's the only reason I haven't completely removed the component cable yet. I'm waiting on the final map pack to be free!

 

Hmm thats strange, I'm sure mine was before the spring update as well, whenever I went into the download screen it came up with the "Please reconnect controller" pop-up and I couldn't do anything. My controller was still on and everything. Happened to me both times I downloaded the new H2 maps (the first time and the second time when they had the new, fixed versions up).

 

Yeah, that happened to me once I just had to press A

 

Hmm, perhaps in my frantic bashing of all the buttons I missed that one XD

 

The word of warning I'd give though is that the Halo2 map packs take ages to download but you can't play online untill you have them!

 

I'll be re-writing the FAQ this weekend, hopefully, so if any of you would like to add anything, just let me know.
