I got bored, really bored. So I decided to use up some old junk and create a conversation piece. Here is a mini-log of what I did (yeah, lots of pictures, 26 in total): So we start like this, a busted mobo, and an old PSU case. Make two bends, a few cuts, and walla, you've got the start to a shell: From here, I began making the other sides. Back first: Marked and ready to be cut. As you can see, I honestly didn't care if the edges were perfect, as the plexi wasn't that good of a quality to begin with (lots of small cracks and some stains). I did however smooth the edges though. This was kinda stupid though: at 2:30PM I had three noise complaints about me using a dremmel at only 40% to make a few cuts. I had all my windows open, and my door closed; and its freaking 2:30!!! Let me make this clear: all of the people who complained I've witnessed have their stereo turned up to the point where I could feel the bass and make out some of the lyrics at 1AM. Not 2:30PM, but bloody 1AM. *******s anyway. That’s what the back looks like. Front. All together. Next: I had to ask myself the question: how do I secure the front plexi? Well, this was easily solved by two large screws right into the ISA port. Sweet ain't it? Then, I made a hinge... And it opens. Any remarks about the fact that I wear nail-polish can just be thrown in the bin now. I enjoy my nails black, I'm not queer (I'm bi), and any flaming about a guy having some sense of style will only serve to make you look silly. So just don't. Sides painting. Those are the two boxes I had to rummage through for this project. I've got two more like it, but I figured there was enough gear in those two. And that’s mostly what I picked out. And a series of in-progress shots. The sides were done drying, so I decided to secure them. On the left you can see the little right-angle I used to secure the left side. For the right side I just hot-glued the lip on the bottom to the bottom of the motherboard. Holds it secure enough. And together. The back is held on by two screws through the two side panels. The top obviously is held on by the hinge. The little handle is a nice touch I thought
Alright, and some action shots: Can you see the camera? It's watching you Note: I WILL be doing future updates to it so that it actually does something, but for now, it is just a conversation piece. Hope you enjoyed this random bit of nothingness!
I have fits of bordom. I get so bored some times I'm too lazy to even notice how bored I am! Stupid life.
have you read the title "The amazing nothing machine!" ??? so it does nothing or maybe something in the next update
Damn it, I wrecked it: I made it do something... Yeah, I got bored again... lol Switch on. Switch off. The upper right switch turns the 80mm fan and the small LED display on/off, and the CCFL is sound activated, so it's on all the time (it just happens that the noise the fan makes causes the CCFL to be on all the time, the fake shutter noise my camera makes was even enough to spark it off). Oh, and if you're wondering, this thing will rest on the top of my microwave. The CCFL is just sitting behind the, umm, whatever you want to call that thing. More to come
Fire? O_O Doesn't fire create like uhm... heat? And doesn't heat mean bad performance? And doesn't fire destroy and burn things? <_<
I think the trade-off between coolness and destruction is little enough to warrant some fire. OMG YOU HAVE NAILPAINT ON YOU CROSSDRESSING WOMAN Ahem. I don't have some on at the moment I swear
I like it, a good use for all the random crap we modders tend to have lying around. Also nice to see I'm not the only person who posts on here who has black nail varnish on, mines left over from halloween, it just refuses to come off, and no one will give me nail varnish remover, it's kind of become a part of me now.
It's so ugly that it is AWESOME. I like your style (got myself a lot of old computer parts) grtz and mod on
