Wow, That looks great. Thats a ton of leds. Do you plan on lighting up the AMD and ATI logos on the front?
That is some fine eye candy, Zap Too bad you cant do the flame effect. That would have been quite cool. And that LED circuit must have been really annoying to make I look forward to seeing it all together. Certainly isnt much green on this sucker is there? I take it that the primary sponsor is subsequently ATI. Either way, this is a very fine piece of work indeed, Zapwizard.
Amazing. One question, did you plan for the "Zap Wizard" lettering to look "bubbly"? Is that un-intentional, a bad effect in the pic or planned? I think it looks pretty cool... L J
I hope to light up the front logo's if possible. I will be getting two blades cut, one with just the switch and LED holes. And another with cut-outs for the logo's. There will be more green then I have done so far. The plan is to add some basic light control to allow the light levels to be balanced. There are a variety of effects I can do to text, I normaly do a dotted outline around the text, but for this I wanted the text to show up more, so I did a cut about 1/4" deep. The bubbles are a side effect of the laser, but I don't think they look bad. Also, the etched text has alluminum tape attached to the back, making the text look silver in daylight. ----- Some more updates coming.
I need some opinions please: I broke down and quickly handmade a proto-type blade out of alluminum. So I have three options for the front of the case: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ An all-black blade My favorite so far, it makes a great contast for the backlighting. I may totaly ditch the metal, and make a mirror-black plexi blade. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ A mix of black and red: While it looks good, it creates a redundent red-to-black transistion, and almost makes the lights seem non-exisistant. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Bare alluminum: My original plan, but now that I see it, it doesn't quite "fit" The button and LED holders don't stand out, and the silver is so light that it makes the lights hard to see. /Edit, Changed the black image
Your even questioning this? All black, all the way for the blade. Make it plexi as you've stated, and use a mat black on the back-side of the blade to give a super high gloss effect (and to prevent the paint from chipping off the plexi when people touch the front - which they will).
Hmmmmm... I like the black saw blade quite a bit... But... I have an idea. For a little contrast, why dont you try anodizing the aluminum blade?
Anodized black? I like that idea as well, so I guess "Seconded". And thusly, I retract my former statement
Anodized is another option. I will make a mirror-black blade this weekend and see what I think. I may stick to the plexi however, as I can make integrated logo's into the paint, and mabye even backlight them. /Edit: I have edited my post above with this image: http://www.zapwizard.com/ATI/Faceplate/black.jpg All black metal, without logo's. The paint ain't even dry yet.
I like the first one it looks incredible. It goes best with your case. also when your done with this are u gonna maybe put a x800pro in there and maybe a athlon 64 939 processor. I'm just saying this because won't amd and asus want the newest stuff in this
i like the first one too. Is that clear plexi which u've painted, or is it a black piece? Maybe you could paint just the back of the clear plexi, then the lights would diffuse and light the logos on the front. I dunno.. edit: oh i didnt see that, its metal. That looks the best, DO IT!
Yes, definately, the more I think/look at the mirror-black metal blade, the better I think it looks. Definately go for it man
