LOL, the aim is that any LED effect won't be directly visible.
    Rather the glow is visible.

If you stick you head under the case and look, it's pretty bright though.

You have to leave out step nr. 7 because it's a copy of nr. 1

    johnwilliams474,
Thanks for the image, but could you make it a link?
Just to keep the images consistant.

I mentioned here \/ that I will be doing a spinning effect.
    http://forums.bit-tech.net/showpost.php?p=581376&postcount=20

And you pretty much hit on what I was going to do,
I planned on turning off one LED, sequentially to create the spinning effect.
But I like your idea of turning off two LEDs, that should make it look like a spinning firework.

What I will do is hook up a random effect circuit (That makes the LEDs flicker) to each LED.
Then I will turn off the ground connection of each LED to create the spinning effect, rather then try to build a circuit that is both random, and spinning.

Do you plan on making this computer easily upgradable? ATI and AMD are both coming out with new products soon; will they be sending you the new parts (x800 video card and socket 939 CPU) when they become available or in ATI's case, announced?

Excellent modding so far, Zap :hip: HOW many LEDs are you putting into this mod? You sure the PSU can keep up? :worried:

I don't think he will be using either of those, since the video card is already modded, and that x800 might be a little too power hungry, but might work. As for the socket 939, I dont think so, as the motherboards in these smaller cases tend to be custom made, and normaly are sold along with the case.

Yes, I plan on adding a connector for an external power supply, in case they want to put in an even more powerful graphics card.
    A 939 upgrade won't be likely though.

Originally the number was at 160 LEDs, but I have decided not to use yellow, so that cuts it down to about 140 LEDs.

    Zap,

There is no need to mod an external slot. Shuttle is comming out with a PSU upgrade very soon. 240watts and will be VERY quiet and cool. http://www.sfftech.com forums have it there.

You can just buy that PSU and hook it up. Those PSUs are VERY powerful, there wont be a problem.

Hell, a guy stuck an Nvidia 6800 (the review model) into a shuttle either the 200watt or 250watt version and ran fine with another optical drive and hdd.

The Athlon64 Shuttle already has the 240-watt PSU, and yes it is powerfull and can run the existing (and already fast hardware)
But it can't hurt to have an extra hook-up if needed.

I'm sorry if this has been posted before.

where did you find the 9cm plexi circle? was it custom made?

You should start selling these (with leds to your choice built in). I would buy one...

    Looking ZAPTASTIC !!

    SWEET JEEZUS THAT IS BRIGHT!!!!!

Hehehehe! I love the LED holder under the computer.
Will you post the schematics for the LED controller once you have designed it for the effects you want?

I am especially interested in that, as I was toying with the idea of putting 10 - 12 LED's through the bottom of my case and creating a throbber or a chase scheme. Similar to what you are doing here, in quantity of LED's controlled, but different in execution .

This is a nice, NICE example of creativity unchecked! :thumb:

Keep up the great work, Zap!

It is laser cut out of plexi, and custom made.
    Zaptastic...I like that :thumb:

I do plan on posting the schematics, but the LED controller will be an add-on, and may not even make it into the final build depending on time.

    Here is another small update:

    The Logitech MX510 Firewheel

The acrylic wheel is laser cut, and lit by two red 3mm LEDs.

I actualy tried to make a wheel in the same sawblade fashion as the front, it looked good, but was too fragile for use as a wheel.

I'm surprised you didn't use a Cordless Desktop MX or similar on this project; you could've integrated the RF receiver like you've done on previous projects, and I'd have thought the lack of cables would be an advantage on this type of project. However, I'm sure you have very good reasons for not doing so.
Nice job on the mouse, it looks really impressive :thumb:
