This gonna be awesome
Cant wait pictures
Just want to weigh in on this one... one word.. awsome
I have always loved shuttle cases and this one should be good...
im not so sure I agree with ATI's new logo, do you think that you could do the side and front panels without the cicle with jagged lines from the ATI logo?
Other then that ist lookin pretty nice. The idea for the lit A64 is prpbably my favorite part of this project.
I cant wait to see this things built
I'm not sure if he's going to do the layerd technique but here ya go:
See towards the bottom, it shows you how to do more than one color. You can also do it a couple other ways, but it's more difficult than that.
I love the cubic form of a case so this should be interesting...
Yikes...i really don't know what to say to that...what's with the table saw blade on the front?..is that supposed to be an ATI fan?..I think removing that bit of detail would make it more interesting and less literal...
Maybe a little passion, a little more inspiration...something to really reflect the cutting edge technical creativity of ATI and their forward thinking...
I expected a bit more from you, young padawan..good luck with the project!
looks like an acrylic cube covered with stickers to me
don't wish to sound too harsh but that was my initial thoughts
and they are the ones that count
Well I guess that means he'll have to prove you wrong.
Hey guys, can we hold up on the posts until the project log actually has real photos in it and Zap starts the actual project? Otherwise we end up just making this even longer and more tedious to read for everyone.
I think your fame has spread world wide, Zap Wizard, lol! Maybe a bit too far though. You havent done much and you already have more posts than most finished projects, lol!
You hit it on the head, I will use several red. orange and amber LEDs flashing randomly. As far as positioning the LEDs so they are not directly visible, I will have to experiment to see what works.
I know the renderings look like a racecar as far as branding.
But in reality the PC will have dynamic lighting rather then just sit there lit-up.
I originally had 'ATI Get in the Game' as simple text on the side window, but replaced it with the offical 'ATI Get in the GAME' logo at ATI's request.
I need to keep all logo's with-in their offical usage guidelines.
I have about half of the parts, and photos will follow soon. but I just moved, and I don't have internet at home until tommorow evening.
What!! No Internet...How Do You Live?
Have you thought about how you will ensure the power lines are connected first/disconnected last when using non-standard USB plugs/sockets?
I am aware that USB sockets connect power before the data signals.
(If you look into a USB male plug, you can see that two of the wires are longer then the other)
But it didn't seem to be a problem at all on the Ammo PC, where I often dis-connected the USB devices while the PC was on.
Sorry, a little off topic:
I just downloaded the 3d software you recomended....would you be willing to write a guide for it...sometime...anytime.....Your hands seem full at the moment..and for the next 8+weeks...But it would be cool if you gave soem help to the 3d N00bs...
truespace is a pretty simple program to figure ot but its still alot different than any other 3d program ive used except wings3d
lookin good zap
ZW I envy you.
no need to ask zap for help plenty of masterful graphics gurus and tutorials out there. tutorial forums Theres a good place to get started and alas helped me in my photoshop beginning days
hey zap, i saw pics from last years quakecon, looks like you were the one with the ammo box pc if i'm right.. anywho, you going this year? because i showed my friends who wanted to build that ammo pc about yours and they're going to quakecon, so they can go meet you and lick your toe jam lol
I will be at QuakeCon for sure this year.
Back on topic:

The thermaltake anodized heatsinks are on backorder though, no date yet.
