im not gonna bother waiting for nvidia, there gonna want mega bucks for there cards, so if thats the case, the 5870 will give you more bang for buck, if i knew nvidia were selling at the same price as the ati card, then i would wait for the reviews, but i know, well we all know envidia will be expensive....DONT WE take care
Why would nVidia overcharge given that they know the price of the 5870 and how well it performs? They're not dumb, they'll either release a slower card at a competitive price (fat chance), or a faster card at a higher price. They also have had a bit longer to work on the GTX380 or whatever it'll be called.
yes it could be faster, but at a higher price, as always, nvidia over charge in my opinion, how much faster do u realy need a graphic card, even if the nvidia card is faster.....will you actualy see the difference during gameplay etc, yet you pay the higher price.......it dont seem logic to me, with ati, you get bang for buck
The way Nvidia are acting could be taken in two lights. Firstly they aren't bothered because they're new card is much faster or,secondly, they're new gpu isn't up to the hd5000 series and are consequently trying desperately to rectify the situation.
Logic fail, people will always pay more for faster video cards, and there are always situations where having a ridiculous card will get you a better experience.
not read bit techs review, did they do a full review..........if nvidias card is faster i just dont see how you will notice the extra punch while gaming, just my opinion thats all take care
The nVidia cards are most likely delayed to 2010. That's too damned far, IMO. 90% of buys will be Black Friday + Christmas for the DX11 adopters (including me). If nVidia misses that stretch, they're screwed and AMD will literally have a stranglehold on the high end GPU market for 3 whole months. No matter how you look at it, AMD is going to win this one, even if nVidia finally pulls a GTX395 and takes the e-peen crown from AMD.
Given that there is only one notable title that is going to have DX11 support before the new year (Dirt 2), I don't see what the hurry is. Game support for DX11 so far is shockingly bad and even the games that will support it have developers admitting it is rather "tacked on". Also bare in mind that Nvidia spend a lot more time with the developers than AMD thanks to the TWIMTBP programme, so whatever Nvidia release is going to work well with whatever titles trickle out. Nvidia hold the vast majority of the fat GPU market too, so I can't imagine much happening in the PC games market until Nvidia release a GT300 part. It could help to explain why Call of Pripyat's release has been set for after the new year. (aside from the obvious translation issues).
IIRC... 2900XT came out to compete with the 8800GTX, yet only kept up with the 8800GTS 320/640MB? That would be a disaster for nVidia..
more reviews from everywhere is better really, as you get to see how cards preform on different set ups etc (and Yeah bittech also did a v.good full review, you missed it?!) but yeah, the 5870 looks bad ass, especially when OC'd.. but is it worth £310?.. I'd prefer to wait.. I only hope nvidia will give good bang for buck cards so that ATI will drop there prices too.. maybe see the 5870 at least around the £200-£250 mark,
