What's the best time for you to work??

I dont quite understand my body clock but first thing in the morning, literally after the "morning pee" i can work straight for a few hours, and the last thing at night, like now, im working again typing up my dissertation. Is this abnormal? Why cant i work during the day like normal people instead of sitting on my arse eating/falling asleep and watching the grand prix?

Crazy :p This is why i recon i could never work 9-5, cause those are the hours i work WORST :duh:

I'm glad i'm not alone... The few hours around sleep are best for me - especially in the morning. In the middle of the day, i can never seem to work... :(

Well, thinks that is quite normal. I go to school from 8am-4pm approx.
I work very well at that time, but when I get home I'm totally wasted.
And then in the evening around 10pm, I get really fresh and start make my homework :duh: , go to bed around 2pm. Strange pattern, my mom is getting worried, but hey it works for me :cooldude:

So if I were you, I wouldn't worry to much about that. Just make sure you don't ruin your bed times. Tried that and that's some f00ked **** :wallbash:

at uni i actually couldnt work during the day, my best work was usually done while staying up all night, mainly because there was less distractions.

There used to be quite a group of us pulling an all nighter mission in the labs... :cooldude:

11am -> 4.30pm is the worst time, after 4.30 work seems much easier to do. 8-10 is crap again then 10 -> 4am is fine lol!
All nighters seem to be a great way to work, everyones focussed on working and getting the job done...

That's about me, although i stop around 1am for kip, then it's up at around 10-11 again. 5-8 im almost dead from tiredness, but feeling the "2nd wave" is great, and you go to bed feeling like you've acumplished something.

I find that if I start work at 7-8am in the morning, I can go on til 8, 9 even 10pm at night and get a hell of a lot done in a day. However, if I start at 10am, I find that I'm usually bored by 2pm, which means that I don't get anything done in that day.

I also work pretty well late at night too, but I prefer to get in to bed at a reasonable time than to stay up, because I know I'll get so much more done if I start early. :)

If I have to live on a 24 hour cycle the best for me is to get up around 1 hour after sunrise and start the day with a nice pot of tea or coffee while reading the news. After that I can work about 12 hours straight on anything half way interesting; with snacks and drinks on the side. I still have a numb feeling of being tired somewhere in the back of my head, but I always wake up after 6 hours sleep.

The better cycle for me is an 28 hour day. I still need only 6 hours sleep, but get more done in between, and I'm more alert during the first 10 to 12 hours. But, how can I explain that to my boss?

If I really have to force myself on some unnatural cycle (for me unnatural) I try to keep the bedroom fairly cold, even if it means that I have to put on socks in bed. (Cold feet easily wake me up.)

I find the best times for me to work are between 7:30-16:30, otherwise I'd get fired.

No offence to anyone who hasn't had a demanding full-time job, but having the flexibility to get up and go to bed when you like is a luxury afforded to very few. As I've found, it's largely irrelevant the most efficient time for you to be working, as soon as you need to be in work somewhere between the hours of 7:00-18:00, you will get used to it.

To put in perspective; I had a lie in the other day.. I got up at 9. I also stayed up late, I went to bed at midnight and I was knackered.

It's amazing how well your body will adapt when you have to pay bills.

I work 9-5.30 and I'm quite happy with it. Evenings and weekends are free to be used for their intended purpose - non-stop partying.

I do agree, once I get in to a routine it's hard to get out of it... I went out Saturday night, fell asleep on the sofa at 3:30am, woke up at 7am still... caught up on sleep yesterday afternoon, and then I was up at 7am again this morning.

I have to agree with that. I'm a night owl & working days is totally against my natural body-clock. However, to pay the bills I have to deal with it, so I just do. When I have anything more than a week off (hardly ever happens anyway) though I totally revert & coming back to work is a bit hellish.

Isn't it a Japanese custom to take a short nap in the afternoon?

For me it's early morning and then 10pm onwards, probably due to less distractions at those times.

Like most people my schedule is based on the demands of my job. My current schedule is get up a 5am and go into to work at 6. I'm dead till about 9 :D Work til 3 get home and veg (sometimes nap) for an hour or so... then work on home/projects/whatever til about 10, then go to bed.

My perfect schedule used to be a shift I was on about two years ago. We worked three 13 hour shifts and were off for four days  The shifts were long but man those four days off were so cool.

I think it's funny the French protested for their 35 hour work week. Don't they take like a month of vacation each year too?

I work best late at night, I seem more motivated from about 11pm onwards and this is the time when I do most of my work!
