I have seen reports that AMD's market share has also risen dramatically - source, which is not surprising, dual core, opterons and Turions sales have boosted. But tbh I don't see Turions doing so well, most laptops use Centrinos and AMD have to work harder to get their processors to use less power than centrinos to get just as good speeds. But 64 bit laptops are on the up thanks to AMD.

But this year intel will be releasing more 64 bit processors, and dual core too. With the impressive Yonah, I think Intel are catching up, they probably won't take the heart of the enthusiast community, but will of larger companies, think Apple for one.

    But then again, there's Dell...

indeed, i can see amd losing out on laptops this year because Core duo rocks
server wise not much has changed so amd will probably keep gaining ground there
if dell really do start shipping amd systems then thats going to be a massive boost for amd in the desktop market :D

lol...I always love to see such eloquently phrased, absolutely non biased, non-fanboi messages. :D It reminds me often of what a non-sheep-like, independently thinking forum we have.

    Is that a hint? :D

AMD is really on a roll, and Intel is tripping all over themselves as of late. Whilst they have had a complete restructure of management, they should still be doing better than this.

    Ha, good point

Ive prefered AMD for years. Long before I found this site. They perform better and cost less than the intel equivalant. Since my dad bought his pentium 2 and I noticed how much more stable my computer was I have prefered them.

Intel will be hitting back, and then some, over this year.

    AMD have..AM2 coming, thats it.

Intel have Yonah which is either out or about to be(cant remember which) and is going to cement their lead(and decimate AMD further) in the mobile processor market. They have Presler, which if they can get the clock speeds up on, is going to provide an increased threat to ATI's dominence. More importantly then that they have Viiv which they're working towards, and no doubt all its associated systems. As I think Bigz pointed out, Intel have a direction, while AMD just have drive.
