SketchUp The Bit-Tech Case Design Competition - Take 2 Decision Thread

Right Guys instead of cloging the other therad open lets talk about it here, then make a new thread once we have decided on what we want

 

i have some case that I started to make in SU that I could finish for this comp :

lian li tyr x2000

lian li pc80

lian li v350

but a scratch build would be way better !

 

lian li v350 like the sound of that as it;s nice and small

 

I suck at SketchUp, but I'd love to see others take a crack at the v350 as well.

 

Could the new comp allow other app's to be used, and judging just based on the ideas rather then visual results.

I find sketchup a pig to use as i have been using higher end software for to long, and i just dont have the time to learn another app to use well.

 

Burnout21 what software you have in mind? as some programs would just woop others and so on and if you keep it to a free program everyone can get, it makes it fairer

 

well i had hoped to use solidworks as i pretty much can operate it blind folded, however it is by no means free!

but its not down to whos app is better than others, its the creativity that is key to this competition.

someone can use top dollar software and there idea's still be crap.

You know you want and open app competition, more peeps might get envolved that way!

 

Burnout21, well i want to get in to soildworks, but soildworks can render built in so the finished product world be 66 million times better

 

just had an idea !
if each participant pays 10$ and if we get 15 participant, we would have around 150$ which is enough to buy a case so the winner would win that case ?
if you see what I mean.

I still think its not the app that is used, more the creativity that is involved.

 

Can we just have a 'design your own case' compo.

No need for program restrictions, etc, and it makes it very accesable to all, including me.

 

well, that would be very unfair to the ppl who don't have or know how to use 3d programs like solidwork, 3dsmax, maya or what ever kick ass modelling program.
and plus if you allow rendering it's even more unfair. though It would be awsome for me!

 

different counrties would make this most difficult to post the case out. the awesome idea would be to have the winning case professional made by MNPCtech! hint!

We need a poll setup, app restriction or not. +2 already me and mankz, and i recon a 3rd from craigbru.

well if we're talking about diffrent programs i would use 3ds and kick ass with dark

 

The compo should be....

"Design your ultimate case"

Any Program
Any rendering
Any design
Any material

However, when it comes to descision time, rendering shouldnt matter. A good case badly rendered would beat a bad case well rendered.

 

Are sketchup plugins free or do you have to pay for them? Either way, I'm in for the next comp. No more school for me so now I have some free time on my hands.

 

some are free but for ultimate pwnage you need Vray for SU (free 30 day demo)

As i have been trying to say all along, lol!

The first comp was sketchup based as it was linked via the mutal model of the silverstone case, so file formats were the limiting factor.

now with this new direction we can just start generating from the ground up, almost limitless.
