For the wealth of motorsport experience Zanardi or Kubica could bring, I wish they'd be there!

 

Isn't Zanardi going to be at some of the races anyway?

Given his status as a current GT driver and Paralympic athlete he'll probably only appear a few times, but still better than none.

 

Everyone was waiting for Ralph Schumacher to do something stupid, as was his tendency at the time.

Damon Hill's last GP win too, what were Frank and Patrick thinking...

 

There was no way Damon was going to let him through without a fight. I bet EJ was bricking it right then.

Speaking of Damon; my mate has a oil painting of Hill's Arrows-Yamaha at Hungary 1997, with the caption "A moral victory". I've threatened to steal it several times - I loved that race, despite the end.

I hadn't realized Merc did the ENTIRE SEASONS DISTANCE in just testing. Need a mind-blown smilie.

 

Read a tweet last night that Manor are looking to challenge the mid-field! [They plan to be ahead of Macca, Sauber at least.]

 

Given that one of those teams has no money and the other has a lawnmower engine, I wouldn't be surprised in the least.

 

In other news, RBR will have Aston Martin branding as well.

 

Manor have been there long enough you would kinda hope they would have their act together. With h the Merc engine and even Renualt having limited development due to the prolonged buyback they should be challenging by this point.

 

Force India messed up? AM didn't want to get in bed with Mallya in the middle of all his legal issues?

 

Wow, yea, good point. I guess they don't want to risk being saddled with the debt or a bad-brand. RB is a stronger ticket than FI, and it's not a tech partner unlike Renault.

 

I know a chap who machines titanium parts for a few F1 teams amongst other things, his opinion of Force India and Mallya is... not flattering, but best summed up with the phrase never do business with that man.

 

There is also the announcement that AM are doing a hypercar thing together with RB. Which is a good alliance, all things considered.

Raining, so not truly representative, but...

Lewis fastest.
Nico in the wall.
McHondas sixth and seventh.
Haas about the same pace as Manor.

Of course with seven cars not even setting times it's all meaningless, but still, it begins!

 

Nico destroyed his unique wing for the weekend was confirmed at the end of the session. They do not have another one for him, old wing for him now.

Dunno what he was doing in truth why push so hard in the wet.

 

Nico was probably trying to get the jump on Hamilton in his headspace. Didn't work. I predict a boring season in the lead, with more than the usual amount of shenanigans P4 downwards.

 

It'll be interesting to see if the new wing was big improvement or not

 

Another boring race tomorrow I gather. F1 has become so so boring guys.
