Let us know what colour surprise is.

Watching Ted's Paddock uncut and they've just interviewed Jenson + asked others and said he won't be in F1 next year. Guessing he'll do Rallycross and/or become a TV pundit.

****ing love what Nando said in the driver press conf. that "the spec of modern F1 cars is ****". If he doesn't like the 2017 cars he'll be off as well, :/

Mclaren in the top ten at Spa, with Jenson-bad-at-qualifying-Button no less.

That car's got good aero, slowly but surely it's getting a better engine too.

I would be very sad to see Button gone, but not overly fussed about the end of Alonso.

I would quite like Alonso to announce his retirement at the end of this season, just to leave Ron with choice but Button for the sake of the schadenfreude.

Alonso is on contract through 2017. Button is probably done racing, but I would like him to stick around -- whether with McL or anyone else.

Alonso is on a two year deal with an option for a third, he could walk away scott free if he chose to.

Well he did say this thursday at the presscon that he's on contract for next year. While he *could* walk away, I don't think he will.

Yea he said if he doesnt enjoy racing next year's cars he'll quit. Which translates into: if I'm not challenging for the top tier, I'm off. And fair play, it would have been how many years of Macca's comeback by next year? 4?

Next year will be McHonda's third. So far the gains have been good, if you take into account the structural reorganisation under Boullier and the new Honda engine -- they essentially wiped the slate clean to start over in 2014-15.

I'm not saying they will necessarily challenge for top slots in the WDC/WCC next year, nor that Nando will enjoy the cars, mind. Just that they've made solid, steady progress on all fronts since their first tests as a new team.

Well right about now Rosberg is probably thinking 'ah crap...'

Also that was some shunt for Magnussen... hard enough to send the head protection flying out of the car and bend the armco... again, testament to the resilience of F1 cars that he was able to walk [well limp] away from it...

Turn 1, what the hell was Vettel thinking?

Turn 5, what the hell was Werhlein thinking?

Great race for Alonso and Hamilton, pretty great for Rosberg and Ricciardo too.

Gutted for Button, seventh to barriers and an almost exact repeat of Grosjean's effort from 2009.

New underpants for Mr Magnussen please...

Vettel was far enough in front that during "normal" race conditions Raikkonen would of had to give up the corner. Being a start however with Verstappen on the inside that will not and could not happen. More to Tue point what was Verstappen doing driving practically off the track riding the kerb.

I would love to see the turn 5 incident again. It seemed really stupid what was shown. Would also love to see Sainz failure again.

That was a win for Hamilton. Today was always about damage limitation and while he couldn't quite get second he kept the championship lead. Yes Rosberg won but he needs to beat him next race.

Driver of the day is a hard one, Riccardo, Hulkenberg, Hamilton, Alonso, Grosjean, Ocon all done well one way or another. A lot of luck and some unlucky moments with the race stop meaning none really performed exceptional but more very well.

I think villain or underperformer of the day is more fun this time

Verstappen drove like an absolute **** today. I was quite pleased to see him finish without points.

Other than that, good action up and down the field, solid race. Nice to see FI haul in some points, but I just wish it wasn't at the cost of crapping on Williams :(

Well I got my prediction a bit wrong, I keep expecting Nico to trip up but he managed to keep a steady head and drove the perfect race.

Good to see the Redbulls back up fighting, especially good to see Ricciardo up on the podium.

    I love watching Max race.
I think he was blameless for the first corner incident, he went for a gap that was there, got alongside Kimi, and was fully under control - it was just a shame Seb turned in a little too much leaving no room for Kimi.
Then there was the move on the straight after Eau Rouge where he moved to late, that was on the verge of being dangerous and could have seen him get a penalty.

Lewis benefited from the safety cars and red flag period, but drove a great race to get up to 3rd, as did Alonso.

I was surprised to see Kevin get out of the car a limp away after that crash, I would suggest even just ten years ago that would have been a fatality.

IIRC, didn't Schumacher break his leg in a crash like that?

Slightly concerning that the head protection padding went flying out of the car on impact with the barrier though.

Verstappen was using the kurb (yeh racing drivers never use the kerbs right) kimi was next to him, vettel being slightly further ahead means nothing, he just turned in and belted Räikkönen.

The reason i like Hamilton even though he can be a plonker sometimes ( constantly trying to play to the crowd on the podium) is at least he owns up to his mistakes unlike vettel and certainly not rosberg, hes a terrible sportsman on that account hence the booing.

100% responsible in austria and 50% responsible in spain but as usual nico never accepted any blame whereas at least lewis accepted his part in spain.

Its why he doesnt have the following that lewis does, humility goes a long way ( i still prefer button and ricciardo though)

Luciano Burti survived a much worse crash at blanchimont in 2001, although it did end his F1 career.

He has the helmet he was wearing mounted in his trophy cabinet to this day!

Ricardo Zonta and Jacques Villeneuve both walked away from monster crashes at Eua Rouge in 1999, the changes to chassis construction rules that came into force in 1996 have saved a lot drivers in the last two decades.

Verstappen will cause a huge accident if he continues to defend like this, I love his style and the way he over takes is genius but the way he defends is pre school level compared to his graduated peers.

Really needs taking to one side and pointing out this is not acceptable.

Tyres played a bigger part in Spa than I ever expected. The psi levels were crazy though.

Verstappen wasn't quick enough - after the first corner when he lost places he struggled to move forwards much - despite the cheering of the thousands of Dutch supporters that had come out to see him.

Gutted for Button - he doesn't have much luck, he would have been on for some good points given his starting position.

It was a fairly ruthless performance for Rosberg - he just kept driving away from the rest of the pack, and Ricciardo managed to (mostly) keep with him - which was impressive form from the Red Bull.
