If he wins the WDC he won't care if they fire him. As for Hell to pay, doubt it, we already know from 2014 that the punishment is no worse than a stern talking to from Niki Lauda. Lewis' default maneuver is to put the car in a dangerous situation and rely on Nico to get out of the way. They let Lewis get away with it, giving Nico public stick for 'failing to dodge' would get them pilloried in Germany.
Lewis brings in the money as they say, He and Alonso are the sports only reconisable stars at this point. Most of the drivers and teams could walk down the street and no one would reconise them. Its in Mercedes intrests to keep Lewis happy. Final few races they even give into his stratagy demands. Mercedes are trying to avoid a on track incident and are shaping races using pit stops to do it. There is no chance of the undercut and they will always be on the same stratagy. That will continue to happen till Ferrari can constantly challange them for race wins so that they can not manipulate the stratagy of there cars. Falling viewing figures in key markets will eventually lead to issues. 3-5 million combined last season was the race average for uk audiance.
Lewis switched off the gas in the latter period of the season, otherwise Nico would have looked very poor
Surprisingly there was talk of Lewis retiring after winning the third title or at least moving on. If he fails to win the championship this year for whatever reason there might be a chance that if the relationship is rocky he could simply walk away. I always imagined that his personality was to win while he had breath but if things turn sour like at McClaren he could walk away or be branded untouchable. Dominating another championship or getting into music/Fashion might be all that's left going out sort of gracefully.

Hey guys, since you all sucked so much last year we figured we'd do you a solid and not bother with a new car this year. We're going to give you a chance ya'know?
It's stationary... definitely the McHonda EDIT: The Haas Car looks a bit dull too, but at least it looks like some effort went into the livery unlike the McHonda...
I'm disappointed in the Haas livery tbh. I was hoping for yellow but can understand black and red however there is too much white it looks a lot like the Marussia 2015 team colours.
Agree with this, Nico reminds me of Webber a good driver but not one capable of taking the title long term. If they had both won it the first year history might be very different.
Looks like the 2012 Lotus with a lower nose. Nice and boxy - maybe they could only afford a ruler in their design dept this year.
