I agree, if there weren't slumps, the good times would be more mediocre.

Hell, it's starting to become difficult to buy a fan without the stoopid LEDs...

I'm starting to think you guys are right, the OC and Modding is on its way out-- these aren't the only forums that are experiencing a slump/influx of n00bs.

So this thing is played out-- what's the new thing going to be?

The new thing is going to be the community doing something original. original things are rare anymore, and there are a whole lot of people who want to do the same thing. Whats the cause of the slump? It is the inevitable mainstreaming of modding; now that everyone is doing it, the veterans dont want to do much anymore.

I like the forum very much, sometimes it feels like i camp over here... But lately, the level of the threads started has gone sub zero...

I don't blame anyone for this, but early teens asking where to buy a screwdriver, or how a cpu looks seriously irritate me... For god's sake, :search: . Maybe there should be a Sticky or something that explains what www.google.com is...

I remember sitting at my desk in summer 2004, drink in hand, snacks at the ready and spent hours looking at project logs. *sigh* - I remember that too! Zapwizard!!

I think here in the USA, the winter months make us all slow.
Perhaps those of us who feel the slump are the old timers. We have seen and done everything. Now we have new people who havn't seen the greats in modding and are excited about computers and modding.

In the beginning, computer modding for me was amazing! But now its more like make it as clean, simple and quiet as possible.

Other factors include having a girlfriend, geocaching, and basicly having less and less time for the ol' compy.

i've heard alot of distractions which could cause users to not use the forum as much, but users have the ability to prioritize. Sometimes, people would avoid doing their work because they were hooked on threads here.
Everything in society has changed compared to several years ago, where bit-tech was stronger, such as companies merging or buying each other out to survive in the market. Slow-down seems like its occurred everywhere. We hear things like 'inflation', 'congestion charging', 'tax rises', alot of things seem to suck but it seems like its a touger world to survive, especially with specialist forums like this
