It's not what you get her, it's the thought that counts way it's given. Acting all lovey-dovey and proud and tell her "I put a lot of thought into it and I got you this. (Hand over present)" Then, less certain or even sad "If you don't like it... I guess I could take it back" She'll at least pretend to love whatever you get her, plus the possibility of lots of guilt-based attention if she thinks it's particularly crap. But then what do I know, I'm perpetually single.
