Dunno about that, Audi's pause won't be because of Brexit, and it's probably the same sort of components that Nissan needs ... of course, the components might all be sitting somewhere near to Dover ...

George Eustice Environment Minister on TV, this morning, so out of his depth, following the governments line, ignoring difficult questions or talking absolute tosh and pretty much saying the UK government has done pretty well in its handling of the pandemic.

To be honest, it probably is on this occasion - I must have driven less than 1000 miles in the last year. Don't see much reason on buying a new car at the moment.

Yeah it's pandemic more than Brexit. They've actually been pretty positive recently about their plant in Sunderland.

Well the OH had it confirmed she hasn't got the covids after the hone visit by the hazmat team.

The 100bpm and a temperature of 38.6 C for a day is, apparently, a not uncommon side effect of the vaccination.

The test was just precautionary as a few people had got the covids coincidentally just before jabbage.

So, alls good. Frankly, if they're mild symptoms of the covids you really don't to get the full on thing.

So yay, we're free to go and do not much at all!

    Quite.

We've only just now started to do things or talk about things (like quarantining in hotels - big boon for hotel indudtry too) that we should have done last year, like some other countries.

All under the guise that it's because it's a 'new variant'. Absolute cockwombles.

And unsurprisingly, a few professionals have responded by saying it's just impossible to say with such limited info and small margins. Duh!

What's the point in government advice when it's so unreliable and in some cases damaging and irresponsible? They're saying the vaccines will still be fine, this guarantees that we're going to find out they don't protect against variants then... u-turns have to be assumed now, as 90% of the time it turns out to be the right outcome.

Actions speak louder. If the guy who claims armageddon any time someone farts in the 21st Century has someone round (Prof Ferguson) then it's ok to have someone round without going overboard. If Boris drives 7 miles to ride a bike (not a euphemism), then it's ok to drive and exercise in isolation. If Cummings can drive somewhere to hand off his COVID-infected kids to his parents as a secret murder plot, then hey...

Ongoing research and studying of patient outcomes, yields new information, who would have expected that? :duh:

Who would have thought that a more infectious virus would propagate faster through the body and thus present a higher virus load, and therefore lead to worse disease and higher infection rate?

No one could have forseen it.

To expect that is fear mongering, and definitely shouldn't have factored into government responses at all.

    Stop talking crazy!

Boris may look to former Tory PMs for inspiration, but this is taking it too far...

    Myself last April
Total losses US deaths in World War 2 - 419'500 including civilian deaths and those killed serving as volunteers abroad.
Total deaths officially caused byt Covid-19 as of Yesterday -417'000

So today is the day Covid-19 kills more Americans than the entire Axis managed in six years of war, a year and 3 days after the first confirmed case in the US was logged. That leaves only the US Civil war and 1918 pandemic as worse things to happen to America. I wonder how long it will be before Covid overtakes those as well, it feels like a matter of time now.

But it put paid to Trump as president so, hooray?
