Let's suppose that you were a doctor or scientist working on or wit the vaccine and you knew of a reason that a vaccine that was going to be given to a large part of the world's population was unsafe. Would you:

    1) Tell your manager?
    2) Keep this secret but go for some whistle-blowing channel?
    3) Tell the press, go on TV, call your MP, etc
    4) Tell a few friends and acquaintances that something was wrong but not tell them what is was?

Can anyone here find a decent quality rumour that actually has some reason why a sane person would not take any of these vaccines offered to them when their turn comes?

My elderly grandfathers bridge playing partner, is bumping STD infected uglies with a old dear at the nursing home who’s children told her not to get the vaccine.

Apparently her daughter is a doctor, who works in regulatory affairs and r&d and are on the board of big pharma.

Looks like in trials grandparents that get the jab give grandchildren autism or might live longer and cost more in home fees, so reducing inheritances. It’s all been hushed up!!!!

    But you do your research......

P.S. (For clarity this post is entirely fictional rubbish, for example the bridge partner got tested and only had HPV and so is not riddled).

his point is it's a COVID thread, not just a conversation between you two about vaccines.

In other news it seems to that Germany won't be relying on EU vaccine procurement next year https://reut.rs/2M9gmIV (Reuters news)

No, his post was not in reply to yours; it just happened to come after yours.

I dare say they've been around long enough to know how the "quote" function works, were it a direct reply to you on that subject..

Two of my mother's cousins have died from COVID-19 in the last week, and a long-time family friend who'd been terminally ill with cancer was finished off by COVID-19 a few weeks ago.

My mother works for facilities in a gluten-free bakery and it absolutely boils my piss that she has to work with someone who refuses to wear a mask. Bad enough that she suffers from arthritis & asthma and still has to work a manual job, but she now has to work constant night shifts with someone who refuses to wear a mask. This person has already passed the flu around, which has knocked my mother on her arse for the last couple of days (on unpaid sick leave, I might add), and they could easily be passing round COVID-19 in a food production environment. It's not enough to just keep her distance from this person because some of the work requires two people...

This job requires PPE under normal circumstances, even pre-COVID; if you had a genuine medical exemption from wearing a face mask then you can't do the ****ing job. But because it's the night shift they can get away with it. My mother's already reported it to management & HR several times but they don't seem to be doing a damn thing. If they won't start doing anything about it then I will damn well be kicking up a fuss about it. IDGAF if I have to get the police involved.

Unfortunately it's not as simple as just 'getting another job'. It's a pretty deprived part of the country and even before COVID-19 came along it was extremely difficult to find unskilled work. If you live there and can't drive (and there's very little chance of my mother learning to drive at her age) then you're pretty screwed, you take whatever you can get.

Not a clue why she said what she did as, the few times I have met her, she's always been down to earth. She's not a vaccines cause autism antivax nut job. Which makes it even more bizarre imo and the reason it even came up in conversation with my sister - as she was as surprised as I was. :oldconfused:

It's good you play bridge with your grandad :naughty:

10% of French care-home residents are either refusing the vaccine or having the family refuse on their behalf. Nearly a third of COVID deaths in France have been in caaretre homes.

We have people out there who view fellow human beings as biohazards, and who for various reasons are convinced they are fixing to kill them.

These people need to rein themselves in.

I'm one of those people - maybe without the 'convinced they are fixing to kill them' part.

Stay the **** back, wear your ****ing mask, and follow the ****ing rules. It isn't hard.

Wow, cases have halved in half a month. That's Boris' third wave done then, until he pays us to go out and lick each other again.

Who'd have thought enforced sensible behaviour would reduce the spread?!

Now we just need to monitor the collective mentality once re-released into the wild. See whether the message of repeated lockdowns is getting across. Or take bets on when the fourth one will be announced.

(I was actually really tired when I read your post this morning and jumbled the words up, causing your last sentence to raise an amused eyebrow).
