From my use of work and public toilets, I would estimate about 90% of people (including women) didn't wash their hands, though 50% of that did make their hands wet under a tap. Of the 10% that do wash their hands with soap., 99% then touch the tap, hand dryer, door handles etc. anyway. If it ends, I suspect habits will go back to normal and we'll be equally as unprepared for the next pandemic.

If /when this over, I'll still have antibacterial gel at hand and wash my hands... because that's what I normally did.

But that's cause I did a food health, health & safety etc. course years ago, so I know everywhere's covered in poo. Which either makes you more vigilant or just say "screw it, whatever I do my hands will have everyone's poo on them anyway".

Even though the risk of surface transmission is low, it's still not zero. I don't think that we should be trying to obsessively disinfect all the things all the time, but the increased focus on hand hygiene is certainly welcome as far as I'm concerned. Because this:

Please, just wash your ****in' hands, alrite. You don't have to get all Lady Macbeth over it, but wash your ****in' hands you filthy mingers.

As this became apparent to me I stopped wiping all my shopping down. But I still wipe down something like a beer can which I will handle a lot over a period of time and would place in my mouth (...partially). So partially risk prioritisation and partially making myself feel better.

I think the hand-gel pump bottle in the door of the car will stay long-term.

IIRC the AZ vaccine was fine for 12 weeks during testing, the pfeizer one was not tested at 12 weeks (I think it was in the lancet) which is why there was the concern about 12 weeks. I can attempt to find the thing I read if you want, thought I wouldn't be surprised to find it in the thread already.

I must have been getting mixed up, then, 'cos I'd thought none of the vaccines had been tested beyond three or four week gaps.

I'll see if I can find it for you. Might be me getting mixed up!
    Edit:
@Gareth Halfacree - less concrete than I remembered, think I was mixing up AZs press release and the lancet report. However, they did test at 12 weeks, unless I skim read it twice really **** poorly. Think the first time I was looking for efficacy info.

    Lancet Link - 8th December

Bit I'm quoting is in Discussions, 4th paragraph.

Getting the world vaccinated will take 3-5 years probably. Even the uk with our resources is about another 6-8 months away from been completed.

Schools are going to be heavily restricted by the sounds of the northern irish report. 15 people max in a senior school class. Rota based attendence. Still a long way from normal. Sounds like a huge job for all the teachers too.

Actually curious as to what they do.

WRT the 12 week AZ thing, there was someone on the news (that I'm pretty sure was) from AZ yesterday saying how them showing it's now safe at 12 weeks is a great thing for confidence in the govt strategy. Which threw me completely given the doc above and to my knowledge the 12 week thing was to do with pfeizer which obviously AZ has nothing todo with.

"His last retweets include Talk Radio’s Julia Hartley-Brewer calling for a “reality check” that most people in the UK don’t know someone who died of the virus"

I made a comment on this at the end of last year..
In retrospect, I suppose it applies better to those who don't deny the existence of the C-virus itself, but rather question the C-virus pandemic narrative for reasons pointed out in that post.
So much negative energy, always with them negative waves.

Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here, why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change.
